numbing in fingers and hands

Hi

for the last 3 days my hands and especially my fingers have been falling asleep constantly and I have to keep moving them to wake them up and there all tingly and hyper sensitive.  I have read it is a symptom of pregnancy but usually in the 3rd trimester.  Anyone else got this, I'm starting to worry about what it is with it happening so early?

see I don't really have pain, my finger joints ache a bit, but not painful as such, more just annoying that my fingertips feel like I have burnt the pads and there all numb and/or tingly... oh perhaps it will go as quick as it has come, fingers crossed!  I have the docs on monday so I will ask him... thanks girls!!

I work for an orthopaedic surgeon, and he is specializes in carpal tunnel.  I got diagnosed with that before my pregnancy, but he says that now that i've hit the 2nd trimester I'm going to have it more constantly.  He told me to ask my ob if I can get a cortisone shot.  It will aliviate the pain a little bit.  But knowing me, I probably won't get it.  You could try using a brace at the night time.  That helps me.  Good luck!!

Hmmm... I'm not sure. I have carpel tunnel already anyways it sounds alot like that, do you have pain with the numbness? If not maybe it is still just a nerve that the baby is irritating.

Hi

Just tested that as my husband has the kit at home as he's diabetic and it was fine, blood sugar normal!  So, wondering what it could be?

You get you blood sugar tested. It is a sign of diabetes. usually when you get it in the 3rd tri-mester it is due to nerve pressure causing pregnancy induced carpel tunnel. Try to get your sugar tested when the numbing is happening!
