My lactation consultant said to line my nipple up with bub's nose and make sure his lower lip is at the bottom of my areola(?) and his upper lip at the top billowed out.
I feel your pain about the pain. Post under the breastfeeding forum. Thos girls were amazingly helpful for me before and now :-)
You want to try to get as much of your areola in baby's mouth as you can so baby isn't just latching onto your nipple. Between your hand and thumb squish your breast to kinda flatten it out and try to get baby to open mouth as much as possible and then "stuff" as much of your breast in babys as you can. Hope this is helpful. Also for sore cracked nipples you can put lanolin on them and its safe for baby. There are also gel pads for your breasts that can help with the pain.
Yeah Im gonna be looking into the gels when I get discharged.
glad you posted this, will need to know when mine arrives :)
Tomorrow264 very useful tip I will b taken tht advice when mine is born
I didn't know their were gel pads:)
Thanks Franky :) The gel pads feel amazing on sore nipples. I would keep mine in the fridge so they'd be nice and cool. There are thinner ones that aren't noticeable under your clothes that mainly just cover your nipple and larger thicker ones that cover more of your breast and are good for engorgement.
Try a nipple shield. Works amazing and your nipples will never get sore
Is it for after or during ?
Never heard of one I'll have to look for one:). Thanks
You can find them at babies r us for sure. That's where I got mine, in the medela section. It's like Ten bucks
