It is normal to have a tiny bit of blood, but they do say it should not be smelly.

With my 1st born, my mom & I panicked when his cord started to bleed a little bit.  We noticed blood on his diaper & took him to the E.R., the nurses laughed a lil bit & assured us that it was just fine.  :)
