Beekadaboo, Percentiles simply look at how babies compare.  Being at your gestation (or age once baby is born) they are saying that in comparison to 100 other babies your baby is only bigger than 23 others. Once baby is born they will get into further details and break it into percentiles for height, weight and head size.

Im 34+6 wks and was told baby is in 23 percentile and weighs 5lbs 3 oz.  They said 23 percentile was normal but didnt go into additional detail as to what that means?

A friend of mine just had a baby and they told her that her baby weighed 9 pounds and she ended up being an 11 pound baby! Doctors can be wrong! I wouldn't worry too much you still have a few weeks to go!

I wouldn't worry. First those measurements can be off. They always tell me that my babies are going to weigh 8 lbs but neither was above 6 1/2 lbs. Second, my daughter wasn't even on their "chart" for a year and a half after being born but is a very healthy 3 year old.
