No heartbeat

I am 12 weeks 6 days as of today. Went for a regular appt yesterday.  My doctor said we should definitely be able to hear a heartbeat today. As she listened she couldn't locate one.  I asked her if I should be worried she informed me it is normal being as tho I am still early on and sometimes she can pick it up and sometimes she can't.  I am so worried.  Had this happened to anyone with a happy ending?

I'm 10 weeks and 1 day. On my last appt which was 4 days ago my baby's heartbeat was 174. They had done a vaginal ultrasound. Maybe you should get one of those done !

My doctor won't even try to listen to the heartbeat because if he can't find it he didn't want me to worry. I'm 11w2d. My next appointment is Nov. 5th and he said we would try to hear it then.

You can buy a doppler off the internet and medical grade for 100$.  There is a place in Texas where I got mine.  No tax.  Best investment I made.  Never had any worries after that.  :-)

One of my twins can be heard on the Doppler but baby A is sitting right underneath a major blood vessel of mine and can only be heard on the ultrasound.

I went to the doctor at 12 weeks and my doctor couldn't find the heartbeat on Doppler. I had an u/s and everything is fine. Depends on belly fat also. :)

10w 3d today. I had an apt and they used the doppler to listen for the heart beat. There was a med student doing it and he couldn't find the heart beat. So the doctor said to me "don't worry sometimes we can't here it yet. If we can't find it we will send you over and get an ultrasound. " She then uses the doppler, moved it down a bit,  and found the heartbeat.  If i were you i would have asked for an ultrasound.  My doctor has been able to get all of the ultrasounds I've had to have with previous kids covered as long as she codes them correctly and had a medical reason.

The same thing happened with both of my kids.  I bought a little Doppler of my own.  The following week I heard the heart beat on my Doppler.  You can request an ultrasound, but you might be paying out the nose for it depending on insurance and what not.

I had somewhat the same issue here recently.. until last friday I was unable to hear the heart beat. Today I am 12 wks.. my midwife said that sometimes you are not able to hear the baby because you uterus does not start to come forward until around 14wks. Of course the closer your uterus is to your tummy the better you can hear the heart beat. Also if you have a tilted uterus it can make it hard as well.. just be patient and try not to stress.. everything is probably ok.
