I would bring it up to your doctor as soon as possible. Usually they give the injection around 28 weeks (and then again after birth depending on baby's type)..do you know dad's rh type? If he is also negative, then it would be unnecessary to get the injection. If dad is rh positive, then you should definitely get it as baby also has the chance to be positive.
You're baby will be just fine. As long as they give you the shot before you deliver. I got my shot at 28 weeks, but the doctor told me that some women don't get it until they are about to deliver. Don't worry. Just make damn sure they give it to you. It won't hurt this baby, but it could cause problems for future pregnancies.
Oops misread your post. I think it will cause some problems if you don't get the shot. I never thought about not getting it. Ask your Dr
Im on my 4th child and Im th negative. I have never had a miscarriage or a stillborn. I just got my shot last week , they will check the babies blood when she's born to see if I have to get another shot after she's born.
All the women in my family are RH- and I can assure you your baby now is fine and will be. However, if you plan to have more children in the future... Then get the shot. My mom had me at 18 and didn't get the shot and had 4 miscarriages after me and at 28 had a high risk pregnancy but had my brother, however; she was miscarrying him lucky she had a specialist that had her get to the er in time. So as you can see not getting the shot will only effect future babies. I'm 30 weeks and had my shot 2 weeks ago right in the butt lol but I laughed through my shot it didn't hurt at all. Hope this helps!
Usually the first baby will be fine, but during birth, your body will develop antibodies to rh positive blood. These will then attack the blood cells of any future babies you have leading to future miscarriage or stillbirth.
There is a chance if some of baby's blood mixes with yours that the same could happen with this baby, which is why they do the shot more than once and during certain procedures.
