breast feeding question

i was told that doctors no longer give the shot to dry up your milk supply after delivery. I really did not want to breast feed this pregnancy because the first time was an epic failure. What's the quickest and least painful way to naturally dry up your milk supply. I have big boobs and last time it was pure pain and misery when my supply started coming in, I ran a fever and all. How can I prevent the milk supply from fully coming in

Take antihistamines like Sudafed,  and put cabbage leaves in your bra. Its still painful and takes a couple of weeks to completely dry up, but those things definitely speed up the process. The cabbage leaf part works but it is pretty gross. When I had my first and was doing the cabbage leaf thing, I smelled like boiled cabbage the whole time bc your milk will heat it up, yuck. Lol... you're supposed to kind of crush up the leaves first btw, just Google it if you're curious about it bc I know it sounds pretty strange. Lol

Obviously don't take the antihistamines while pregnant bc idk how safe it is for baby, but you can start with the cabbage leaves anytime. Idk how well it will work though while you're still pregnant bc your body's natural process is to keep producing milk until a little while after baby is born. So if I was you I'd just wait. You can ask your doctor though and see what they say about it. Good luck!!

i heard about the cabbage leaves. I'm not skeptical at the thought having milk and cabbage in my bra lol. But it's definitely worth a shot. I wouldn't try anything until after I give birth. Does wrapping the leaves in with an ace bandage help or does it matter?

My breasts swelled up like balloons... I put cabbage leaves in my bra and it eased the pain sooo much. Didn't dry my milk though I was able to feed for 18 months but it stopped the pain, swelling and fever that I was suffering. I too have large breasts. The other thing is to not drink too much water like they recommend. This makes it worse if you are like me and the milk comes in anyway.

Goodluck

As long as the cabbage comes into contact with your nipples then it should work. So you could put something in between the cabbage and your bra.
