Double check your areas because PRIVATE cord banking is pretty expensive. But PUBLIC cord banking should be completely free. Also, where I'm at i started the paperwork just to get some of it done at like 37 weeks... but they dont need it until i go in for labor. Check with your MWs or doctors! :) help save lives if you can!
It's free if you donate the cord blood and it costs money if you want to bank it for yourself. I donated my daughter's cord blood and I'm planning on doing the same with my son's.
Yeah not free where I am either, we have been seriously considering it but it does seem to be a very expensive insurance policy, but do admit that the benefits are fantastic if you were to need the stem cells... Undecided still
I'm donating mine but the process to donate started back around 20 weeks. I agree, throwing it in the garbage is such a waste. I'm due any day now.
Where im from its not free. You have to pay for storing.
