Good luck to you! Cloth is not as hard people make it sound and they are way cuter!
Thanks for the advice. I'm a ftm and I'm seriously planning to breastfeed if possible...would also like to be prepared in case baby ends up with formula (hope not!) Ok, a month to 6 weeks sounds do-able with newborn disposables. The reason for going for the eco-disposable route was just that I've heard cloth nappies might be more difficult to clean if you start newborn baby with these. Also, just a backup for ease in the first few days - weeks and minimise nappy rash.
I will now check out (flushable) biodegradeable liners too, as these may be more economical than biodegradeable/nonchemical disposable nappies.
I will be cloth diapering as well. Is this your first? How long baby will fit in newborn will depend on their size. This is my fourth and she will most likely be 7 to 7.5 pounds, so she will fit in NB for about a month to 6 weeks. Also, you can use cloth with a disposable, biodegradable liner (many are flushable) if you would like, the Viva paper towels work well also (don't flush). If baby is exclusively breast fed, the poop will be water soluble, I'm not sure what you're planning to do so I thought I would add that.
