Please, no negative comments. I have been smoking for about 8 years now. It's q stress reliever & comfort for me. Of course I know I need to stop (I just found out I'm pregnant) but it's very hard & I know I can't just stop cold turkey. Can I please get some tipa from other moms that have quit?

I don't smoke but I just wanted to say, do your best. Do not give up, if you do have another cigarette, just try again to quit. It is an addiction so it will be hard, but you are doing the best thing for you and your baby!

I quit 3 months ago it's easy when you really want to give it up
I Didn't use patches or anything I just woke up one morning and said to myself I do not want to smoke anymore
I do not want my children to be smokers so if the dont see me do it
They shouldn't want to be smokers
Both My mom and dad were smokers and as a child it made me want to try it as I saw them doing it all the time
I started smoking at a young age :(

You have to be very determined and want to give up that way you will not crave them you will total be against smoking that's what happened with me and how I gave up
Make sure you have good support around you that's helps alot think of baba
you can do it
All the best hun x

I went cold turkey and the first 3 days were the hardest but my cig cravings stopped. Try eating sunflower seeds when u feel stressed or whenever u want a cigarette. I understand it can be harder for others to stop so maybe keep track of how many u smoke a day and gradually cut down. Good luck

I also recommend the e-cig. Not the ejoy or blue whatever. Go to a ecig shop and get a decent setup. Get the lowest nic juice you can and quickly ween off of that.  As a smoker of a pack a day for almost 25 years this was the only thing that got me off the cigs. It has been 11 months since i have has a cig.

I'd definitely suggest trying e-cigs. My husband was a smoker and he used his e-cig/vaporizer and was eventually able to get the nicotine level down to zero. He doesn't even need to vape anymore. :) They also sell them for pretty cheap and they make lots of yummy flavors, including a tobacco flavor.

See if there is a pregnancy stop smoking specialist in your area who can precribe Nicotine replacement and be an understanding person to talk to. I'm not a smoker, but my colleague at work exclusively supports pregnant women and new mum's to quit and to find other ways to look after their stress.

I quit before I was pregnant, when we were trying but what really helped me was not just trying to smoke less but change the behave. So for example I use to have a smoke when I got up in the morning, with a coffee, after meals, when I was on the phone. So I started to do the dishes or tidy up when I was on the phone instead of going outside, and going for a walk to the treadmill downstairs when I first woke up instead of going outside for a smoke. I smoke for over 10 years and found this was the only way I was able to quit... I have been quit for almost 5 months and now I don't have a craving to smoke. But I do have cravings for a walk on the treadmill and doing the dishes... Which I guess is not a bad thing lol.... I would just slowly start to change behave for parts of your day. Phasing out the need for that smoke.

I have been smoking for 20+ years. When I found out I was preg I was able to cut down from 20+ cigs a day to 5-8. I'm trying the best I can but this last week it's gone up to about 10 a day. I told my Dr and she didn't say anything about it. I am waiting to see a new Dr and plan on seeing what I can do. Try your best. The stress of quitting can get really tough and can be bad on you and the baby. Cutting back, if you can't quit is always a good choice. Everyone I talked to has given me the same advice I don't want. "I smoked and everything was fine." Or their wife, mother or so and so smoked and everything was fine. Just because it was fine for them does not mean everything will be fine with you (me) Do the best you can at cutting back and do speak with your Dr about it. They may be able to suggest something that works for you. Good luck.
