Strep B Positive mother of 2 here. On my 3rd baby now (due today! Come out please!!) No complications at all! They gave me the antibiotics during labor and both kiddos are great!

I'm also strep b positive and freaked out when I first found out at 32 weeks! I posted the same question, write down some questions you want to ask your midwife next time you see her ask about everythink! I'm not that freaked any more because I know I will be giving anti biotic whilst in labour and that my baby has a very very good chance that he will not catch it... try not to worry so much and just think positive..

Not a big deal at all. A lot of moms test positive. They will just give you an antibiotic and everything will be fine. :)

They baby won't contract it if she is treated.

It does effect milk supply if the baby catches group b strep during birth which will cause difficulty in feeding.  Breast feeding is on supply and demand.

Check out the file download from BMJ when you google symptoms.

There is no correlation between group b strep status and milk supply. Get your dose of penicillin during labor and you and baby will be perfectly fine no big deal.

You'll be fine and so will baby.  I find out tomorrow myself.  Almost want to test positive because there was such an energy boost for me and my milk came in really fast.  The only down side is liquid penicillin is stronger than the pill version we are use to.  If the nurses let it flow in really fast it will burn your veins so speak up.

My first tested negative but still think I had it.  She had trouble latching and didnt wat to feed.  Lost my milk supply rather quickly with her.

So there was no problems after you brought baby home? Everything was fine?  Sorry for all the questions, I'm just so nervous.

I had streb b with my first,  and all they had to do was give me antibiotics during labor.  The penicillin (pretty sure thats what it was) made me nauseous, along with the intense contractions (i was induced) but baby was just fine.
