symptoms after chemical pregnancy...

I suffered a chemical pregnancy, according to my Dr, just over a week ago but I still have all my pregnancy symptoms... they're even stronger than before. I called and she said I shouldn't still be having symptoms and that I should wait and see if I get my next period but that's not due for at least another 3 weeks! They never drew blood to test hcg levels nor did they perform an ultrasound so now I'm wondering if they were wrong and if I could possibly still be pregnant. It's all very confusing and emotional...

Yes, it came back negative. And I called to make an appt with the Dr because my symptoms are worse and I have even more symptoms plus my stomach is getting bigger and I look pregnant, so much so that a guy at work asked me today when I'm due.

The Dr said it was a waste of time... grrr. But she agreed to a blood test to check my hcg levels so now I've just gotta wait.

Have you tried testing again?

According to pretty much everyone, I'm only experiencing symptoms because the pregnancy hormone is still in my body and that symptoms should go away soon BUT will that explain NEW SYMPTOMS? Like, now I have this metallic taste in my mouth that just won't go away...!

A chemical pregnancy is when you miscarry before there's a heartbeat or anything can be seen with an ultrasound. From what I've read, it occurs before the 5th week and is a very early miscarriage where the only "proof" you were pregnant is a late/missed period and a positive pregnancy test.

What you could do in the meantime is get one of the pregnancy tests with weeks estimator and see what that says. If it's positive and gives you the weeks then I would take another one in a week or 2 and see if the weeks changed. That's what I did when I thought something was wrong because I wasn't having any symptoms

They were going off my history. My mp was supposed to start 9/18. I had been having symptoms for about a week by that time so when, after 2 days, it didn't start I took a pregnancy test on 9/20 that came back positive. Then, exactly a week after I was supposed to start my period, I started bleeding. That was 9/25. I went to the Dr and they did a urine test that came back negative. She said I'd had a chemical pregnancy. I would have been 5 weeks 9/27 so now that I'm still having pregnancy symptoms I called the Dr and they said since I wasn't that far along all the hormones should be out of my body by now and that I shouldn't be experiencing any pregnancy symptoms at all now but to wait and see what happens.

I've already had 3 normal, healthy pregnancies so I know what my body is like when I'm pregnant and that's how I'm feeling. Pregnant. So, yes...very confusing.

How could they diagnose a chemical pregnancy without doing an ultrasound or at least a blood test? That's confusing to be honest, and I really feel for you. It must be such a difficult time to not know exactly whats going on.

Symptoms could last up to two weeks as your body releases those hormones
