If you want it done then get it once you've given birth. I'm in Australia and my midwife said wait until after birth. Personally I would wait.
I've done the research on the whooping vaccine, medical research shows that the vaccine only protects the babe at birth.. so if ppl are in the room with whooping cough right at birth then it's worth it but I don't think anyone would have someone like that in the room. I'm not going to get the shot as it causes more harm than good, I also had the shot as a child so it's been in my system. No there isn't a benefit to the child since it doesn't protect them after birth. I'm a nurse and I know in the US they started pushing ppl to get this vaccine during pregnancy as a scare tactic to make more money. I've got access to medical knowledge but I'm sure you can do research online too.
I've lost a baby also but I did do the flu and I did do the other vaccines that they recommended purely because anything I can do to prevent anything when the babies here or even now I'd rather do than wonder if it's because I didn't get the shoT.I know how hard it is to have a second pregnancy after losing the first one but for me I'm going to do everything possible to make sure that this one makes it so I'll take the vaccine but like fOr my cold sore if I have a headache or any aches and pains I may have I just go drug free for that stuff but the stuff that is long term beneficial for the baby like the vaccines most definitely I did. so my allergies have been horrible this pregnancy and I've been uncomfortable but I'd rather that than risk the baby's health so for me back scenes are good over the counter medications that they say are okay I did not do cuz the vaccines have a long term effect That could help the baby and odds are in a positive favor vs. Neg. So for me the risk is very low. But the Benifits huge.
Whooping cough vaccine is to protect baby. If you don't get it baby won't have the immunity to it and whooping cough is fatal to infants and I think they have to be 6 months before they can get it. And because so many people choose not to vaccinate whooping cough is on the rise. All my friends for it with no complications.
Glad to hear you were immune to it. I have been careful about going out to public places and so far so good. I think I should be fine without the flu jab.
The whooping cough vaccine though still concerns me. I've read that some women have had still births soon after getting the jab. Although research suggests that there is no link between the jab and stillbirth, I am not convinced. I'm trying to find out the prevalance in our borough/council to see whether it is necessary for me to get vaccinated. After a previous loss, I don't think I would survive another if it was due to a vaccine that I took late in pregnancy. I hope to come to a decision by 28 weeks, as it is fast approaching and I'm still in two minds about it.
I've been asked to have it at 26 wks..Ive had my flu jab...my midwife said I need to have it because once the baby is born it may have whooping cough and it can be fatal because the babies immune system is weak and he or she may not be able to fight it...so I ain't taking any risks...but I guess its ur own choice the flu jab was a brilliant decision because nw when everyone has the flu I haven't...:D
