zofran birth defects???

I've been taking this medication since the beginning of my pregnancy for nausea. I can't function without it or I'll be throwing up constantly all day. Some days are better than others. I've been seeing articles and my husband said he saw the zofran bad drug commercial. It says it's been causes cleft lips and pallets, and some heart problems. I don't mean to scare anyone. I don't think my doctor would prescribe me anything that would hurt my baby. And I know people that have said that they lived off that stuff when they were pregnant and their babies were perfectly fine. This is one of the most common pregnancy drugs and now all of the sudden dangerous? I think I'm going to ask my doctor about it at my next appointment.

I took every form of Zofran, Phenergan, and even Thorazine (and eventually had a PICC line and TPN) during my first pregnancy. Sometimes you have to make sure your baby survives first by getting you through. By the way, she's perfectly healthy. I have also been taking it during this pregnancy and I know that I would have ended up on IV fluids without it.

I have been on it off and on through out, and seen this too, I asked my doctor about it, he said it's actually a very low risk and any other medications prescribed for nausea actually have worse side affects that are more common. Zofran is the safest they can prescribe

Maybe ask about getting extra folic acid. I am on seizure meds and they put me on extra 5mg of folic acid.

I've also been taking zofran with my pregnancy.  I seen the ads as well.  I just plan on talking to my doctor.  I've had similar conversations with my doctor about medications (prednisone, albuterol, duoneb) and he had just felt the benefit outweighed the risk.
