when is the right time to prepare?

Is it too soon to start gathering things for the baby's arrival, i mean im not going to buy everything all at once, but when i made a checklist of what to get it seems like a long list. That doesn't include trying to organized everything, with the crib, washing the babies clothes and so much more. Right now it's already hard to for me to move around because i have a bad backache and my belly is getting heavier and i know when im in my 3 trimester it would become harder, and my first child i had my daughter 3 weeks earlier.  So if i go 3 weeks early again i have 13 weeks from now untill i reached my 37 weeks, i am now 24 weeks as of today.  So let me know you guys what you think or im i just too excited this second time around.  thanks..

I havent done a thing....but you have all encouraged me. I have bought a few things....mainly a crib and lots of diapers.  So Im going to probably keeping buying diapers and wipes. But as for clothes well Im having so many showers - work, family, friends, church....that it seems crazy to buy clothes...people LOVE to buy baby clothes.  So Im going to see what I get first and go from there. My Mom suggested I buy things 3 mo or larger since showers you tend to get alot of new born stuff.

Thanks for the encouragement as always ladies!

We've started trying to get Zoe's room done.  We've picked out paint, started disassembling the bed and things that are in there now, scrapping old wallpaper off from the previous owners.  I'm with you guys....I want to do the bigger stuff now so that I'm not miserable doing it in the after 30 weeks.

On showers...I had full showers for my first two...one girl & one boy...it was really nice and everyone was excited to buy clothes and help me fill out what I still needed.

Then I had a five year break (got rid of everything, thinking no more babies)...so now I'm starting from scratch all over.  People at work and family are both giving me a full shower this time around too.  I think it depends on your situation.  Do what feels right to you.

Forgot to add, I don't think it's too early to start getting ready.  I've been buying things here and there and have them stashed in his closet in his room- which isn 't even started yet!  I'm not going to wash anything until I'm about 35 weeks though as I like them fresh and clean!  I am going to get a wiggle on getting the room done though because I'd rather do things while I feel good and have the energy rather than in the 3rd trimester when I can barely move!! LOL!

I think the shower thing depends on what you are having.  I had a girl first and then a boy so I had two full showers. This is baby #3 and my friends want to do a shower/decorate the nursery party so I think that's what we're going to do this time! Should be very fun!

I guess your right, instead of the big baby shower a baby sprinkle instead.  With the diapers and wipes you recieve it will be a great help since everything counts. I should start preparing soon too thanks for the advice.

Here is what my friends do for second babies--We do not give you a baby shower...we give you a baby sprinkle!!!  Typically, that involves diapers and wipes only and a we go out to dinner instead of having a big event shower.  If the mom does register for a few things, people can buy off of that if they prefer.

I guess the sooner you start getting ready, the better.  We are in the process of getting new carpet and all of the babies (2) furniture is on order so once that all gets settled, I guess I will really start preparing....

I don't think im going to have a baby shower since this is my second pregnancy, and it was just 2 years ago that i had my first baby. My mother keep telling me that baby showers is for first time mothers only but my friend told me to have one so i don't really know. Still thinking is i should have a baby shower or not. But thanks for the comment, i guess your excited too ha, you already bought some things for the baby, for me i don't have a single item yet, maybe i'll start on Labor day this September since there will be a lot of things on sale....

Well I dont have any personal experience being this is my first but I dont think its ridiculous to have the essential things you need, incase you have the baby before the shower....I have bought lots of stuff and now Im at a stand still I want to wait until the shower to see what else I get and then maybe make a few more purchases, but my shower is a month and a half before my due date...If I could stop buying clothes Id be doing good....lol...she's gonna have some cute stuff for next summer!!
