anyone taking a childbirth class?

We don't have many options around here (from small town), but I found a child-birth series at our hosptial.  It is housed in the maternity ward, where I will be delivering.  It includes breast feeding advice, as well as bottle feeding, relaxation techniques, first aid/cpr training for infants, and we get to tour the maternity ward at the hosptial (which I have been many times).  It is actually a 5-week class, totalling 10 hours, but DH and I opted for the weekend option where we go 9-4 on saturday and 12-4 on sunday, b/c he works late some evenings (mandatory overtime) and wants to gurantee that he will be there.  The only thing is the class isn't until 11/8 and 11/9 - which is cutting it close, but my original due date wasn't until 11/21 and now it is 12/6, so we should be fine.  Just wondering about everyone else?

We attended the overview hospital class one Saturday...they covered a lot so I am glad we went.  I really wanted to attend the breastfeeding class, but I am on bed rest and cannot go anywhere until these babies come!!! They also offer a Daddy Bootcamp class that would be good for the fathers out there...none of the dates work for my dh so he will just have to learn hands on when they get here!!!!

We are doing a Provincial program here, but honestly it's been terribly boring! It's two hours long for 6 sessions. We ended up skipping last week because we just didn't want to drive the half hour to the class in the evening. The last two classes focus more on care for the baby and breast feeding which I think are the most important things.

She's gone over a lot of the measures for pain control and birthing itself and I just think everyone's experience is unique and although knowing all the different techniques is great it's really pointless since you personally do not know how you'll do. That's also why I have a midwife who can assist me the entire time and provide me with the attentive care I need.

Plus, you can learn so much online these days and from forums like this that in a way I think classes are a waste of money unless you're looking to be social and meet other expecting parents.

Im signed up for 4 night classes. Its 2 classes a week  from 6-9. Its not at the hospital i will be delivering because they dont offer it there (military hospital). They just do a basic tour and explain how they handle labor.
My classes start Oct 1st, im Due Nov 12th. I think im cutting it close myself but i hope it works out just fine. The  hospital did suggest that if i did take the classes to do it before my 36 weeks, which actually ill finish my classes on my 36th week :) I cant wait, its going to be an extra bonding moment with hubby.

I am signed up for the two weekend classes at my hospital. They don't take place until 2 weeks before my due date, and 1 week before my due date. I hope I make it!  My due date is Nov. 3.  We actually won ours from a local charity event, so they are basically free for us.

I was supposed to do the same kind of childbirth/preparation class last weekend, but I ended up in the hospital. I am sure you have plenty of time.
