I think being scared is fairly normal.  This is a good place to ask all your questions about whether or not you're eating right and that sort of thing.  BUt if it helps, in a nutshell, as long as you're not exhausting yourself through lack of sleep, don't worry about whether you're getting enough sleep.  And as far as eating is concerned, there are umpteen sites that tell you what to avoid (they are all pretty much the same).  That said, there are so many people who eat normally and don't avoid anything and they're fine.  I think in the end, actually eating something that might do harm is quite rare.  Personally I choose to be overly cautious and if you're like me, google "eating" and "pregnancy" and you'll find lots of info.
As for the pain meds, don't panic until you've tried the new ones... they might be just fine.  I deal with fairly bad back and neck pain for which I have been ding regular stretching exercises of late rather than popping pills.  It has helped more than I could have hoped but there is still some pain there.  Of course, I have no idea what kind of pain you're talking about but again, maybe the new meds will be fine.
Good luck.

Hey i didnt get to find out what my baby was at 15 but i did find out at 17 weeks but my friends told me that you can find out at 16 weeks. u just have to go to a certain place if your doctor decides to wait until your the full 20 weeks.

It's not so much a matter of going to a certain place but rather a matter of how experienced the person doing the u/s is and how 'clear' the machine is and what may or may not be visible at that stage. There are people who have been told the gender at 15 weeks and some have been told even sooner than that.
But keep in mind that it's easier to tell if it's a boy so generally, if they say it's a boy, you can be fairly confident that that's right, whereas if they say it's a girl, they could be wrong.
