is my bay measuring properly?

Hello, my husband and I had a miscarriage two years and one day ago.  we recently just found out a week ago that I am pregnant again.  I am soooo concerned about miscarrying again, that I can't seem to enjoy my pregnancy at the moment.  I went to the doctor yesterday for my first pre-natal exam.  My doctor said my cervix is closed tightly, however it's very irritated because as soon as she touched it it started bleeding.  (I know a lot of tmi, sorry, I'm pregnant).  I have experienced some spotting, but with no pain, or some slight usually quick cramping with no spotting.  My doctor so far sees no reason to be concerned, so I've been trying to let all that go.  She's also diagnosed me with BV and I am now taking antibiotics for it.  Today I went in for an ultrasound, and we were warned that there's a possibility of not seeing a heart beat today (we thought I was 6 weeks, but I have said I have a 30 day cycle which puts me a little behind), so she does the ultrasound and says the baby is measuring in at 5 weeks and either 1 or 2 days.  the machine wasn't even acknowledging the baby yet the earliest it acknowledges it is 5 weeks 3 days.  So I thought that was really behind, I was super worried, I came home and did some counting on my calendar, and it turns out that I have a 32 day cylce not a 30 day cycle like I previously thought.  So that sounds right, right?  I shouldn't be concerned yet right?  I guess I was just wondering if all in all if this all sounds pretty normal?  I just don't want to miscarry again.  I know if it happens it happens there's nothing to be done about it, but I'd really rather not.  Sorry for the super long question, I'd appreciate any help and advice.  thanks!

I've had lots of (I mean quite a bit) of dark brown spotting today.  No pain, just lots of brown (almost the color of you know ew) spotting.  It's not getting worse sort of staying the same, maybe dwindling a little.  I was having some cramping a few days ago.  Today i'm not.  I assumed it's the antibiotics, either way I'm keeping an eye on it.  Brown is old right, which means I guess I'm not bleeding anymore.  I don't know, I give up.  My next ultrasound is on the 8, that's a long time to wait.  I hope the baby is okay.

Try eating yogurt at least once a day or more to help ward off the yeast infections.  The probiotics in them help neutralize everything down below.  As far as the ultrasound just keep an eye on things and call your MD if your bleeding gets worse.

Oh man, that's a bummer, I heard that taking antibiotics while pregnant can give you a yeast infection.  I'm just hoping that doesn't happen, but if it does, well...it is what it is.  I've never had a yeast infection in my life.  That'll be a new one eh?  The doctor called me and left me a message saying they need to reschedule my appointments "further out" so I don't think I'll be having an ultrasound on the 1.  sigh.  crap.  and all that other stuff.  Oh well.  Nothing that can be done about it.  I'm trying to take a calm and zen approach to this pregnancy can you tell?  lol.

hi tally-

I know a little of what you're going through-  I was diagnosed with a UTI (when I was 7dpo) and have been on antibiotics since.  I did a week of Keflex (which did nothing) and now almost a week of Penicillin, which so far has given me a yeast infection.  Fun stuff, huh?  Definitely not how I wanted to spend my first few weeks of pregnancy.

I really wouldn't worry about the dating or your baby seeming a little 'behind'-  it sounds right on. I have my first u/s the day after you (4/2) so hopefully we both have good news by then!

thanks!  that's helpful.  I've actually been much calmer about it.  and I came to the same conclusion you did about the pelvic pain.  it never gets worse than it's been and it hasn't been accompanied by any bleeding or anything (except for a little on friday, but nothing that I seem to need to be worried about)  I'm just assuming that it's from the infections or the antibiotics I'm taking.  They both cause upset stomach, so maybe I'm feeling that or something.  I don't know.  But since I talked to my doc on friday and she told me my HCG levels were at 5,000, it seems like over the weekend, I've suddenly gotten MUCH crankier and my bb's are soooooooooooo sore today.  So I'm wondering if maybe my levels have gone up and the baby's developed more.  that's good right?  I'm crossing my fingers, trying to relax, which is now hard to do because it seems like every little thing makes me want to scream lately.  ha!  anyway, thanks for the reassurance!  I hope everything works out for you too!!  I'm new to all this...what does everyone say?  sticky baby dust to you!?

I also have 31-32 day cycles and when I got my first ultrasound the gestational sac only measured 4 weeks and 4 days where as if you go by my LMP I should have been around 5 weeks and 3 days.  She told me that the measurements seemed right with my longer periods so I think as far as that goes you are ok.  You pelvic pain may be due to your infections that you have.  Just take your antibiotics as prescribed and you should be fine.  Just try to relax and think positive thoughts.  I know it's hard trust me.  I have had some light pink spotting as well and the MD reassured me that it was very normal at this stage of pregnancy.  Hope everything works out ok for you.

thanks, that sort of helps.  talked to the doc again today hcg levels are at 5000, which is apparently normal for what the baby is measuring at, so that's good.  she also told me that I have chlamydia as well.  I haven't had a pap in a few years (lack of insurance and being broke as hell living on your own as a waitress puts doctor's visits under the luxury category), so now I'm going to be on more antibiotics, and I'm just afraid this baby doesn't have a fighting chance.  I've had some pelvic pain today, I can't really call them cramps, because they don't really feel like cramps...I don't know.  I've also had some spotting today, but it's going away, it was pretty short lived.  Maybe that's from the infection?  maybe that's just "normal" first trimester cramping?  maybe I'm doomed.

I had my first U/S at 5 weeks 4 days, the baby was so small, didnt hear the heartbeat I spotted with brown discharge, Dr. said they might have irritated the cervix and it is very common to spot during the first trimester.  I went for my second U/S 6 weeks 2 days, I can hear the heartbeat, and they confirmed we are having twins.
Dr. said at very early stage, the baby's measurement varies.

hope that helps a little.

Well we only had bd two or three times in february, obviously on V-day, then a few days later, then maybe a few days after that, my lmp was february 4 so, who knows if I ovulated the week of all that love making, or in the beginning of the week after, I can't figure it out.  And as I don't chart (this is sort of unexpected, we weren't particularly trying, but we weren't particularly not trying you know?)  I have no clue as to when I ovulated or could have concieved.  I have an app on my iPhone called the period tracker and it "predicts" when your luteal stage is and what not, so according to that I have an idea...but then again...how much can you go off that?  Anyway, doc called today, she said that the yolc sack is measuring a couple days ahead of the fetal pole I guess, and she said that's fine and normal, she also said my hcg levels are at 5000, and she said for where everything measured in the ultrasound that was normal too.  she wanted me to come in for more testing to see if my levels were doubling, but as we're a one car family and my husband does all the driving and he's already taken a couple days off this week I opted to not do that.  she said that normally she wouldn't offer it to any other patient, but as I was so worried about possibly miscarrying again then she would do it for me.  I don't know, she wants me to come in for another ultrasound in a couple weeks, she's supposed to have her office call me to make an appointment (she was working at a different office today).  So I'm just hoping that everything seems normal and is working out the way it should.  I feel like I should feel more pregnant...it's weird for the couple days before I got the positive hpt I was exhausted, my bb's were hurting like crazy, and I would feel nauseous, but now, I'm just a little tired, I'm hungry, and my bb's don't start really aching until the end of the day.  and BV is bacterial vaginosis, apparently it's pretty common to get.  gross right?

Take a deep breath (I know it's hard) and try to relax ... there is nothing so far that points to a miscarriage.  Keep in mind that whether you have a 30, 32, or even 28 day cycle ... you are assuming you ovulate smack dab in the middle of that cycle.  It is possible to ovulate early or late as well.  You could have been on cycle day 20 for all you know when you conceived, unless of course you only had bd once that month, then it's a given!  ;)

When is the next ultrasound?  That will give you alot of reassurance ... once you see that baby has grown the proper amount and maybe see that heart beat!

Can I ask though what BV is?  Can't figure that one out...
