Feeling rough?

Hi November 2010 Mummies!

I haven't posted on this forum in a while (sorry!) but I just wanted your thoughts really. I came back from a holiday abroad in Greece six days ago and although I felt tired with the travelling etc, I felt well and have done since getting back. And then yesterday I started with a cracking headache, feeling weak and just felt 'off' really. I gave in and took some paracetamol as I was at work and couldn't lay down or anything. I slept last night and had a lay in this morning which I think has helped. The thing is, the headache has come back this afternoon and I feel a little nauseous too. I don't feel like I need to sleep or anything. I've had migraines before I got pregnant and this is how they used to start. But I'm just a little worried that it may be something pregnancy related as my legs have been very achey too.

I've been very stressed at work this week, doing long hours and hate being there. I wonder if maybe this is a little anxiety on top of a headache that cos I'm worrying about it it's getting worse......I don't know! I just thought that during the second trimester we were supposed to feel good?!

At the start of my 2nd trimester I was having horrible migrane headaches and my doctor told me to drink a little coffee (~6 oz). And it worked! He said I was getting them because of hormones that were causing the blood vessels in my head to constrict similar to caffeine withdraws. I'm not a big coffee drinker, so I know they weren't actually caffeine withdraws, but it helped nonetheless. That only lasted for about 2-3 weeks and I'm feeling much better now. I do still get very fatigued and very crampy. There are many days that I just don't feel like leaving the house or getting off the couch. Dehydration has been a problem for me too.

I get headaches, nausea and leg cramps when I'm dehydrated- maybe that's the problem?  I had a brutal headache for two days last week- it's been nearly impossible to drink enough water because it's so hot here!

So I'm not the only one! My pregnancy has been fairly symptom free but I am very fatigued. I was however, anemic before the pregnancy. I'm taking extra iron in addition to the prenatal but it doesnt seem to be getting any better. I keep asking my doctor to check my iron levels, I need another blood test!
My feet are swelling already too but its hot here as well! My joints all feel a bit achey too. Other than that I can't really complain just wish I had more energy!!! sigh Maybe if I exercised more?

Haha I said the same thing to my doctor about the second trimester being the "honeymoon" phase.  For me it's not but I didn't get much morning sickness though either.  I have also been getting headaches a lot more and have been taking Tylenol which helps sometimes and not others.  One night last week I was in tears because it hurt so bad.  Not to mention the fatigue is AWFUL for me.  I get home from work and I take a nap but even that does not give me enough energy to do anything.  I feel like I am in a blur and just doing the motions of life right now.  I could sleep all day long.  Last weekend I was lucky enough to have the stomach virus (for the second time since I was pregnant).  That was horrible.  My feet are also starting to swell and people are noticing.  I am wondering if my headaches and swelling are due to the heat though.  Where I live it's been hot and humid ( in the 90's) but we do have air conditioning.  My job is pretty physically demanding though and there are some days I only get to sit at lunch.  I have an appointment this week with my OB doctor and I am going to ask her a lot of questions.  I know my blood pressure is ok so it's not that but I am wondering if maybe I am anemic.  My levels were a little low back at like 8 weeks along but I am starting to wonder if maybe they dropped.  I have never felt so tired in my life.  Sorry to hear that your second trimester is not going so smooth either.  It could be your stress too that may be contributing to it.  I hope your headaches stop coming.  I think your legs hurting is probably just from the pregnancy.  Hope you feel better soon.
