Holy Back Pains!! Suggestions Please!

Has anyone else had some intense back pains?  I was curled up in a ball last night, crying because it was so bad.  I'm talking LOWER back pains.  No worries, the baby is fine, heart rate is strong and everything is great, he's moving around a lot in there. :)  My OB thinks it's just back spasms?  She gave me some stretches to do, but does anyone else have any other ideas, because the stretches apparently aren't working.  Mainly, pillows to use at night?  I'm currently sleeping with pillows on all sides of me so I don't end up on my back, but usually wake up several times a night because I'm uncomfortable.  I'm only 12 weeks along, could he already be on a nerve or something?  The pain only lasted a minute or so with some soreness even still, but nothing to really complain about.

Thanks for the help! :)  I hope everyone else is doing well!!!

In my first pg I was told back pain is very common and can be intense.  That being said, mine turned out to be kidney related and the Ob didn't believe me that it wasn't just regular back pain until much later, even after going to the ER.  I had no infection, urinating normally, and nothing could be seen (at first ) in ultrasound obstructing my kidneys so I was sent home with pain meds.  But it kept coming back very intense.  You are probably just experiencing the back pain, like you suspect, because of the pregnancy and your dancing background.  I had kidney issues when I was very young, so this is probably not what you are going through at all, but, I just wanted to put this out there in case it gets worse you might check into it.  I had the same issues with my second child (and probably will with this one, although I certainly pray not) and they started around 17-19 weeks.  Hope you get to feeling better soon as your body adjusts to your growing baby!

My sisters were competitive dancers too. (In Ohio) I was a college athlete and throw my back out every now and then (track- high jump/long jump/running). Being a dentist too, it strains my back leaning over patients all day.  I have already seen my chiropracter and his table can accomdate a pregnant woman almost til the end of pregnancy. If you have a chiropracter- I'd call and see if you can get in and make sure their table adjust for the belly.

Feel better soon!

I would think the pains are from things stretching and making room for the baby more then anything? I am having pains too, and I am only 10 weeks but this will be my third so I know this is normal.

I should add that I was a dancer, ballet (pointe), jazz, lyrical, modern, etc., so she thinks that's why it's so bad so soon.  Just really looking for some help/relief.  Hoping there's other mothers out there who were also big into sports too that could help!
