First-time mom Q&A

Hi mamas!

I am roughly 5-6 weeks in my first pregnancy, and though we were trying, I am anxious.

So, please comment with something you learned in your first pregnancy to do and not to do. When did you start actually preparing by buying stuff and telling your employer? Thanks!

I'm 6 weeks 2 days and because I'm high risk my doctor put me on light duty at work the moment we found out. But waiting to tell people is usually what I see people doing

Oh and I suggest telling your employer sooner than later as it helps you create a game plan, are you planning on going back or staying home, will they have issues with you pumping or leaving to nurse during the day. Can you ease in with half days... there is a lot to think about from your employer's standpoint. Wait to buy stuff until after your baby shower if you can manage. You really don't need half the stuff you think you do. Things that serve more than one function and grow with baby will save money and space.

I'm currently 6 weeks with #3, things to avoid: hot tubs or anything that can raise your core temp, unpasteurized foods, sushi and rare steaks. Don't let yourself get too hungry, little meals all day rather than 3 big ones helps the queasiness. Rest as much as possible building a human being takes a lot out of you! Good luck and congratulations to all!

Congratulations!! I'm roughly 5-6 weeks myself in my first pregnancy, and very very excited! I wouldn't tell my employer until you start showing, in fact that's the case for telling friends as well in my opinion. Unless it's your close circle. Good luck!
