I asked my ob what true labor feels like. She said you will feeling muscles tightening from my back first then it will transition to the upper abdominal muscles. At the same time, your baby is pushing against your pelvic area working his/her way down. So, you're feeling just as much pressure down there too. Also, expect your baby to continue to move and bulge around your belly while rid is going on. Your belly is doing a lot of working through your labor. There are some women out there who are fortunate to have higher pain tolerance, like my SIL, who doesn't know what intense contractions feel like and she already had two kids, both born at 38wks.

Low pain in your tummy can be contractions. I was having period like pains low in tummy tightenings on the top and lower back ache all coming and going i was in premature labour.  If it's not normal for you seek advice they'll tell you what to do.

If its low in your abdomen its not contractions. Contractions will go across the whole top of your belly and are gradual sharp pains. Sounds like ligament pains to me. Drink some water lay on your left side and see if you feel better. Hope this helps

You might be.  If you have more than 5 contractions in 1hr go to your maternity ER.
