hyperemesis gravidarum

I'm a ftm due 11/27. I was just diagnosed with hyperemesis gravidarum. After being in the ER 3 times in less than a month for severe dehydration. Has anyone else had this? Any recommendations or tips to get through it? I've already lost 15 pounds and I don't want to lose anymore.

Sorry to hear your having such a rough time of it...I understand as this is my third pregnancy and the third time I've had HG. I can certainly list the things that have helped me and hope that they may make a difference, even if it's a small one, to you Mama...
Hydration wise when I've been really bad the only thing I've been able to do is suck on ice lollies nonstop, the fruit based ones have worked best.
When I've improved slightly I've found that plain sparkling water mixed with a little something, at the moment my thing is Elderflower cordial, sipped through a straw every 5 mins has stayed down.
Have you tried eating something sat up in bed before getting up in the morning? Not every time but some days I found that slowly eating something quite dry like breadsticks or salty crackers, or even a cereal bar and then waiting 10-15 minutes before getting up, meant that I was sick less or at least less frequently that day. Wishing you all the best with your pregnancy and hope it eases soon X

Just one last thing- try not to worry about the baby, I've had two healthy girls...one 7 lb 5oz and one 7 lb 7 oz after suffering badly with HG as they take what they need from your reserves :-) X

I was also diagnosed with HG after 3 runs to the hospital. I wasn't able to keep anything down for 10 weeks so they finally had to put me on a zofran pump. Despite all the warnings, my doctors assured me the risk to the baby was far greater being off the pump than being on it because I wasn't able to keep even water down.

Some things they tried before that though was vitamin B6 with half a unisom, munching on ginger, smelling lemons, motion sickness bands, ******* pops, eating a snack every hour or two, crackers before getting out of bed in the morning, popsicles, waiting 20 minutes after eating before drinking anything, eating a high protein snack before going to bed, phenergan... you name it I tried it. Maybe one of these will work for you!

On the plus side, it normally does subside towards the second trimester. It took me till 16 weeks (though I still get one bad day here and there) to feel normal again so hopefully you get relief soon!

For the omitted word, they're called ************* pops.. Dunno why that gets censored!

It won't let me put that word! I guess search for pregnant pops and you'll find it that way.
