When did you tell?

I am fifteen weeks. I have a very conservative job as a lawyer. I am also an associate there, and work very long hours (as I am expected to do). Everyone in my office is either married or has no children. I'm unmarried, although I am still with the baby's father. I have not told the partners at the firm yet. When should I? Any advice on how to do it?

With my first pregnancy I had accepted a new job 300 miles away from home then discovered (two weeks later) that I was pregnant. I informed HR but not my new team as I didn't want to be perceived as the pregnant woman who'd be going off on maternity leave soon anyway. I worked like a demon - which was really hard as morning sickness was pretty bad - and proved I was worthy of the position with finally 'coming clean' at 17 weeks because it was becoming noticeable. I think best advise for you would be to last as long as you can then advise your team/partners of the situation swiftly followed with a robust plan to ensure that all cases/clients will still continue to receive your full attention until x date, and what the contingency plan is after that. Present it as a pure business plan with as little emotion as you can then if anything like me, go home and cry your eyes out with relief that it's finally done. All the best!!

I told my team at work this past Tuesday after my 20 week us. I am already showing but I disguised it as much as I could. I was hesitant because I had two miscarriages in the past, because I'm married and separated from my husband and actually got pregnant while we were trying to work things out but it didn't work out and someone at my job is pregnant for the first time with a set of twins so I wanted to be as thoughtful as possible. So on Tuesday I bought a dozen of pink cupcakes in with little pics in it that says it's a girl.

You should advise work asap. This will allow your work to prepare for your leave and excuse your absences for check ups with your obgyn. No need to disclose information with everyone just who you directly report to or human resources.

I didn't tell anyone at work until people started asking, probably around 30 weeks, but I was lucky and didn't really start showing until 27 weeks.
