AFP results

My results from the triple screen came back today.  The nuchal translucency u/s was completely normal.  My ratio was 1:120 and the doctor said that was a negative result.  He said the cut off for recommending an amnio is 1:110.  It's too close for comfort as far as I'm concerned, but my doctor said not to worry that the odds of an amnio coming out positive in my case is very, very rare.  Oh, I'm 43, too.  Not sure if that makes a difference in the calculation for the ratiio.  He did say that the ratio for someone my age without the screening is 1:35, so I should feel good about the results.  So, I guess I'm not having the amnio.  What do you guys think?

The transulcency ultra sound was normal, and the doctor said the test as a whole was negative, so I'm just going to stop worrying about my low numbers.  My dr. isn't worried, so I'm trying to go with the flow!
Thanks

I would not worry.  Sounds like you are in the clear.  An amnio has its risks and it will not change the outcome of anything.  Also an ultrasound will show up anything wrong more than likely so if  you have an u/s that shows something abnormal I might would consider the amnio.  I had a doc appointment today and I declined all of those test.  Good luck!!
