ok i'm back...and i had alex....so HE'S HERE!!!!!

so on oct 9th, my old dr in austin pulled my plug(i went to moms after hurricane).....well, that did nothing at all so on the 16th i had my induction.....i went just 3 hours without any drugs, but there were 3 inductions, and 1 scheduled c/s for the day, so i pretty much had to take the epi when they offered it.....i got induced @ 0745, got the epi @ 1045/11am or so.....well, i went from 3cm to 6 by 6pm, but by 8, i had went back to 4.5!!!!!  so my dr came in and said it was up to me, he could give me 6 more hours(which would have been a total of 18 hours since water got broken), or i could opt for a c/s.....i asked him jokingly how long would that take, and when he said 45 mins or less, well i opted for the c/s lol.....so at 9:10pm, on thursday, october 16, 2008, christopher alexander made his way into the world!!!!!  apparently, he had gotten lodged in the birth canal, so even if i hadn't opted for the c/s, it'd had to have been done anyways!

so, he was 8 lbs, 10oz, 20 inches long!!!  chris is offshore, and he had to leave the morning after i had the baby, so there was no way he could make it....he kept acting like it was no big deal, but i've been able to tell by his voicemails and demands for pics, that it bothered him quite a bit more than he let on.....i got to hold him for about 20 minutes, then he went to the medium risk nursery....then, the pedi brought him back in, said hold him for a few more, because he was having issues, and needed immediate attention.....

well, alex had fluid in his lungs, his blood sugar was only @ 8(wow!), fluid in his stomach(which turned out to be my blood, as he apparently opened his mouth to cry/scream just as they were pulling him out, and he swallowed quite a bit), and his respirations were above 100, and should only have been around 40-65.....well that was thursday....by saturday morning he was getting his sugar up to the 50's(they wanted 50+ before he could room-in with me and my mom), and his respirations were under control...the 'tummy-tube" was removed friday evening, and by saturday afternoon, the fluid from his lungs had drained.....so saturday he got to room with us, and miraculously(well to me lol), he got his circumcision saturday night, and we got to come home sunday afternoon!!!  oh and my nurse for thursday night, only came in like twice, so my mom was the lucky one who got to clean me up(all the blood, TMI i know, around 3am on friday), and by 0530 friday am, the morphine from the c/s had worn off, so i got my mom to clean me again, help me change from hospital gown to nightgown/robe, get me in the rocking chair, prop up my legs, etc....well, about a half hr, or hour later, the nurse comes in, and OMG i thought she was gonna fall the heck over! 1)apparently she's never seen anyone up and around(yea, i could actually walk, though painfully!), and i was wide awake.....she totally freaked out, and told my dr that afternoon, so when he came to check on me, he was laughing about it.....apparently the nurse told him thinking he'd "chastise" me, but he was more impressed than anything else, and i guess he told the nurse that, so the next night she worked, she pretty much left me alone, unless i asked for motrin for my back(agh, that d*mned epi girls!)......

but, all in all, i guess that's about it! i'll upload some pix tomorrow, as i am soooooooo NOT in the mood to be awake now, but i know he'll want to eat in about 30 mins lol....oh yeah, and we're BF'ing....he's SUCH a freaking chugger!!!  he feeds on me, then gets a formula supplement of half an ounce or so, b/c i'm worried some about the sugar thing.....

who else had babies????!!!!

lol thanks! and you too!
i've been kinda curious though, b/c i'm "supposed" to feed every 2-3 hours, but sometimes he'll sleep 5 hours, and if i try to feed him, he's just "not hungry".....and i quit the formula supps, b/c i couldn't pump and feed him fast enough, to comp for the formula, but he's doing fine!  i guess since he didn't have the 'trauma" from a VB, he's able to sleep better, and be awake more, cos rather than up for an hour or so, he'll be up for about 3 hours, no matter how much i try to get him to sleep, so i guess we're on his "schedule" lol.....

Congrats!!!  You went through alot!!!  Glad the baby is doing better.  You had a big baby too!!  Mine was 8.15oz.  BF is going great for me too.  We did have some issues with jaundice in the first few days and they sent her home with the bili-lights...she looked like a little glow worm lol.  But she is perfect now and sleeping like a champ!!  Welcome to motherhood!!!
