Did anyone already take the Gestational Diabetes test?

I had to see a midwife instead of my normal dr at my 13 week appt.  She thought I was high risk for gestational diabetes for some reason and ordered the test.  I took it at 14 weeks.  Has anyone else had this done yet?  I felt so silly in the waiting room next to women who were twice as pregnant as I was...

2 questions in the same day - I'm on a roll :)

I would, you want to minimize the amount of time the baby is exposed to high glucose values.  What I found out yesterday is that 1 hour after eating they want my blood glucose at 7.8 or less (140 for the USA) if its going higher than that then its going too high so lower gi index foods / smaller portions should help with that.

Wishing you well,
Joanne

Thanks for all the info ladies!  I guess I will be tested just once more at the 28 week appt.  I was just barely in the threshold.  133 when the range is supposed to be < 139.  I will try to be careful on the sugars, anyway!

At one point they theorized i had pcos - because of the early onset of high bp, high cholesterol and insulin resistance probs....one of the other symptoms though was irregular periods, fertility issues.  i'd never had irregular periods and had never tried to get pregnant (only one way of testing that particular diagnosis) so not sure if it would still hold up.

Basically I have to take readings before and after breakfast, before lunch, before and after dinner, write in a food diary and such. Hopefully I can keep a handle on it without insulin.

I will be tested every trimester. I already had one done at 9 weeks but passed. I have PCOS of which many people have insulin resistance (diabetes). Fortunately I don't have the diabetic part of PCOS but he wants to make sure I don't develop GD.

Well I went for my test this morning, took my glucose monitor so I could follow along (tested same time they did)

Fasting (5.8) 104
1 Hour (16.00) 288
2 Hour (10.8) 194.4
3 Hour (2.8) 50.4

Had a OB appt right after and she said if my numbers are correct then I've failed cause the 1 Hour value is too high.  Perfect.  I have an appt at the Diabetes clinic for Gest Diab tomorrow. Perfect.  I'm 14 weeks on Thursday.

Well my Doctor got the results of the regular fasting glucose test and now wants me def. to do the gestational diabetes test in the next few days.

My fasting one was 6.2 (for cdns) 112 for others who do it the other way.
I'm not too worried. I've pretty much had the same result for the last three years so this is nothing new. Hopefully this doesn't translate into a problem on the other test though.

I was 13 weeks Thursday
