Harden abdomen - does it mean contraction?

Hi ladies

I wonder if you have experienced an hardening of your abdomen/tummy.  It seems that mine will not stop over hours - I thought that it was not necessarily a contraction since a contraction should last for a couple of seconds/mins and go away - or i'm I wrong?  What can possibly cause a harden tummy?  Anyne had this experience?

I'm sure you were relieved to hear that! LOL! Instead of being told they were super long contractions. I get the same feeling when baby pushes her butt out (it almost hurts!) so I understand why you posed the question.

It is most likely baby's head or butt. A contraction wouldn't last that long. You can try pushing on the hard spots and if it softens up or you feel baby move- then it is most likely baby.

Otherwise, when in doubt, call your doctor!

I do have contractions every now and again. It feels like premenstrual cramps and my belly does tighten up. But it only lasts a few seconds.
