Breastfeeding!!

I've been breastfeeding since Brady has been born. I was supplementing in the hospital with formula to get his jaundice levels down. Since we've been home Sunday...I have only given him a bottle once and it was that night.
Anyway...my question is...is it normal for them to favour one side more than the other?? He feeds like a champ on my left and he's ok with the right but won't take it as long and will usually unlatch and latch back on a couple times or unlatch and shake his head around like he's rooting but my nipple could be in his mouth and he still shakes it around. It's weird. Does anyone have this prob? Not sure how to fix it. The only thing I could think of is maybe it's how I'm holding him or something.

Thanks ladies!! I feel better that I'm not the only one!
My midwife was here today and Brady has gained another 2 oz since Sunday. She asked if I was feeding with one or both breasts per feed. I was doing two so she told me to try and cut it to one....and just try a different hold each time when he does the head thing. She wants to me to make sure he's also getting the hind milk and not the foremilk only from both.
Brady doesn't spit up with breastmilk much. He was spitting up when I was supplementing with the formula though.
I still don't have a breast pump so I haven't tried that yet.

VaniDavila - If your doing rice cereal start out with a very small amount, and be warned she might get constipated from it.  Oat cereal is better, although I'm not sure if there's a specific age you can start that.

My little girl does the SAME thing.  Although she's doing it with both the bottle and boob.  We ended up switching to pumping only because she bites every time (even before she ever had a bottle).  I'm starting to think that she does it when she wants to suck but won't take the nuk.

I might just try putting baby cereal in my breastmilk see if that helps with the spit up. I'm sick and tired of the spit ups. She literaly shoots out the milk and get's it all over me so when I tried the A.R. formula I was so happy when she didn't spit up anything.

My daughter is a very lazy and sloppy eater. I tried pumping before she fed off the breast to get the milk down, but she only fed for about 2 minutes and then she gives up and starts crying and moving her head from side to side. She gets very frustrated with breastfeeding.

I had the same problem! And to anyone who's babies are spitting up breast milk and not formula- don't give up breast milk completely! My son is doing this also and from what I've read its because breast milk is thinner and easier to spit up than formula. Basically I decided instead of completely throwing in the towel and quitting breast milk altogether, I'm just pumping 3 times a day now and feeding him breast milk 3 times. Basically I'm freezing 6 ounces each time and feeding 4. The other feedings are formula.

I gave up trying to breast feed. I think when I supplemented in the hospital, my son got lazy from the bottle and wouldn't take to my right breast (which doesn't let down as easy). He will take the left really well. I have been pumping like I said, but I am starting to wear out. Pumping is hard work! I plan on starting a thread to see how everyone else is on pumping!

I know I always get more milk from one side than from another. Also the side I have less milk takes longer for the milk to come down. I have the same problem with my daughter which is why I give her my breast milk in a bottle. I like it that way better because I'm always "On the go" and it would be hard for me to breastfeed. I think I am going to stop giving her my breastmilk only because she spits up a lot. I tried giving her Enfamil A.R. and she did not spit up at all. I wish I could have given her my milk for at least the first 3 months like I did with my first daughter!!
