Increasing Milk Supply

I recently heard that drinking one dark beer a day can really help increase your milk supply because of the yeast in the beer. I was skeptical so I researched it a little. And turns out, that yes, it's true!! Beer is second to napping for increasing milk supply!!! So for those of you who like a dark beer... drink up!! :-)
My friend has twins and all the nurses told her to drink a beer every day for increased milk supply. Just a bit of information that I thought I'd share. Of course there are other ways to increase milk supply such as Mothers Milk tea, napping, double pumping, making sure you're drinking plenty of water, etc.

Remember this: if you do chose to drink a beer, dark beer (Guiness for example) is the kind to drink, and you don't need more than 1.

Thank you so much for all of these good ideas!  I have not heard about some of these for increasing milk supply.  I will really have to try some of these out.  Thanks again for your help!

I'm pumping too, my little girl had issues latching, then my boobs were so sore I couldn't even think of nursing.  So I've pumped for a while and she now won't take the boob at all :(.  I'm pumping 4-5 oz every 3 hours.  Nori isn't drinking nearly as much as my son so we've been freezing a lot, I think we've got 54 oz in the freezer at the moment and 15 oz waiting for her to drink in the fridge.

Well I pump every 3 hours sometimes every 5-6 hours. I refrigerate the milk and then warm it up when it's time for her to get fed. My daughter won't take the breast so pumping is my only option. I'm pumping about 4 oz. every 3 hours or about 6 every 6 hours.

I was worrying that Navy wasnt eating enough since she eats every hour it seems and my boobs just dont feel full like they did with Aspen. The only real time they get full is when I wake up in the morning or if I drink some of a beer. But I went to her 2 week appointment today and not only did she gain all her birth weight back but she added a pound as well! I was shocked and swore Id stoo worrying about her getting enough and yet each feeding I still worry. It would be a lot easier if I knew how many ounces she ate each time!

Hey! I actually started drinking a Sam Adams a day and it seems to help but I am taking so many other herbs, drowning myself in water and drinking tea that I am not sure if it is the beer that is helping or a combination of everything!
