Baby spitting up

So I'm feeding my baby breast milk but in a bottle. Lately she has been spitting up a lot. I burp her and she burps very loud, but she always ends up spitting up. It's not a little spit, she spits up quite a bit. I'm starting to get concerned. Should I be worried?

One thing you may consider is stopping her and burping every ounce. I know with my son if I don't stop him he will spit up a lot at the end, but if I make him stop he's generally pretty good. And another thing is not feeding him when he's flat on his back because when you pick them up to burp the change in position can really get them spitting.

When he does spit up though, it is watery with chunks like you described!

Oh another thing, when you pick her up to burp her, make sure you don't bend her any at her midsection. I noticed I was doing that to my son without even knowing it so I started supporting his back a lot better and it helped. AND another thing haha sorry- when my son burps I stop patting his back and wait a few seconds because if I keep patting him he would spit up.

But you know your baby, try experimenting with things. It'll pass! Try not to get frustrated and invest in a ton of regular bath rags. Walmart has like a pack of 18 for a few bucks- we bought those to use under Jacob's chin and as burp cloths because Jacob is a messy eater and after they spit up you want something absorbent and handy!

(sorry I wrote a novel!)

My daughter was 8lbs. at her last check up which was last week. She is drinking about 3-4 oz. every 3-4 hours. Sometimes her spit up is watery with milk pieces (looks like tiny chunks). I don't know if that's normal.

What kind of nipple are you using?  I found that some brands/nipples caused our son to eat too fast thus spit up a lot.  We found the Playtex Vent air small nipples worked best with my breast milk, and they worked with my Medela bottles.  So far with our little girl we haven't had any issues as we started using the smaller nipples.

I also second the possibliity of an allergy.  Milk and Soy are the most common, although if she dosen't have issues when eating from the boob then I doubt this is the issue, same with the reflux.

My little girl is about 8 lb and she's drinking about 2-3 oz every feeding.

it could be overeating or an allergy to milk....she may also have acid reflux

my baby had a bunch of spitting up issues to the point where she gagged on it and stopped breathing....luckily some prevacid helped that

please talk to her ped asap about that

Not really but it all depends on many factors. How many ounces does she eat in a day. Typically babies should consume 2.5 times their body weight. So if your daughter weights 8 lbs she only needs 20 ozs a day or 10 lbs she only needs 25 ozs. Also try making sure she is in an upright position when you feed her, that you dont bounce her around and that you dont put pressure on her belly such as a too tight diaper. Other than that our babies are still pretty young and spitting up can be quite normal. If you are still worried ask your ped.

How do I know if she is full? How many oz. should she be drinking at 3 weeks old? My baby is burping, but eventhough, she is spitting up. I'm so frustrated because she's always spitting up after a feeding. Right now she is taking anywhere between 3 and 4 oz. Is that too much?

It could be that she is over eating which tends to have when babies are bottle fed because she's using the bottle as a pacifier. Try burping her in the middle of the feeding and then again at the end. If you burp her in the middle it may help her realize she isnt that hungry and she may eat less.
