I was thinking more about the popularity side of it myslef. It is a great name, and I don't think people would even assiciate the two in five years, but there will probably be a lot of women naming their son Jacob in the next year :/
I don't know what's up with the name Chris, but my brothers name is Chris and so is DH's name. It gets confusing when the two are around each other, or when I'm talking to family. Everyone is either like, "Which one", or wondering why I would be talking about my brother like that, lol.
If you love that name then I'd say go for it. Jacob is a classic name. Just keep in mind that it's the most popular boys name of this year due to Twilight and many little boys in his class and such will have the same name. I always knew that I didn't want a name that was super common...just cuz of that fact. My name is a common name but it took me until College to meet another Heather. I like that about my name.
BA! I just can't decide what to do. I love the name, but now I can't help but picture the twilight Jacob... which I will admit is a good mental image, but I don't want people to think it came from the movie. Stupid movies ruin all the good names!
I am having issues with hubby making associations with every name I come up with. It's driving me crazy. If you really like the name then go for it.
There is a reason why even though my grandma-in-laws name is Isabella I refuse to even consider it in my daughters name. 1.) too popular these days 2.) twilight ruined it. I don't think you're being silly at all, but if you really like the name then I say go for it. I want to name my daughter Navie (like Navy the color blue or army ships) but apparently the chick in Avatar's name is spelled the same way (though pronounced different) and I'm afraid that people will mistake her name for being named after that creature. I'm still undecided if I will just go for it.
