fetal movement

Ok so my little man is non-stop in there. I am 24 weeks. I haven't really felt him stop moving at all. He seems to be moving all day and all night. I love feeling him move and it makes me happy but it also worries me, because I keep hearing horror stories of babies getting the cord stuck around their neck. Is anyone else's baby moving as much as mine and does it mean a bigger risk for the cord to be wrapped around the neck if they are moving excessively?

I really wouldnt worry about this, more movement the better i say, its when you feel the opposite that you should worry!!......Its actualy quite common for the babys cord to get tangled up but it usualy corrects itself. Just be glad that you have a little wriggler and enjoy every punch and kick!!!! Im 13 weeks with my 2nd child and i cannot wait to start feeling all those movements! =]

If the cord gets stuck around there neck or tangled then 99% of the time there is something wrong with the cord (at least that's what I've been told by a few different dr's).  Feeling the movements is a sign that the cord isn't around the baby's neck, with both my son and this pregnancy I've had the same basic thing.  Since 20 weeks this time the baby's been moving/kicking so much it's been hard for me to sleep.

Also, at my 20 week ultrasound I was told that where my plecenta is helps me feel more stronger movements.  Babies do move around a lot, if you'r plecenta is in a similar spot to where mine is that might be part of why you feel so much like that.

I agree with the other girls.  I wouldn't worry about that at this point.  Mine moves around A LOT and I feel it a lot because of the placenta I think like Amy said.  I have a low lying placenta still and the baby is still breech so I feel him tap dancing away :)

Yep mine move around a lot as well. A lot more than her sister did that is for sure. Like jenna said if it gets tangled it usually corrects itself. Its only when you don't feel movement that you should start worrying. Hence why they start having you do kick counts at about 28 weeks.

Thanks guys. For some reason I've been really worried lately. I just started feeling this way in the last few days. Every little thing is worrisome to me now. Maybe because people keep telling me their stories and some are good and some are bad. Does anyone else feel a little panicked sometimes? Maybe it is just my mom instincts starting to kick in. Who knows. But now I'm going to worry when he's not kicking if something is wrong. AHHHH. I'm going crazy I think.

Yeah that is totally normal during pregnancy. I remember my first pregnancy I kept telling myself "I'll stop worrying when I get out of the first trimester" then I started "I'll stop worrying once I can feel the baby kick" then it was "I'll stop worrying once the baby is out" and then once she was out I had a whole new list of things to worry about. Its part of what being a mommy is all about! My daughter is now 2 1/2 and I still worry about her.
