Full Moon and Labor?

I was wondering if any of you ladies had heard about the idea that if you are full term and a full moon happens you are more likely to go into labor? I have heard several people say something about it and wondered if anyone had any opinions about it. Or if you have an experience where you or someone you knew was full term and went into labor close to the full moon. Let me know what u think.

I am wishing on the full moon tonight, but just doubt anything will happen for me;(
I am 4cm & 90% effaced, but only 35 weeks along. I had my second daughter at 36 weeks and she was 5lbs 4oz and they are telling me my baby is already 6lbs 2oz roughly, so I was just wishing that she might come a tad early;) They did a study on her lungs and she is doing great, so they said if she were to come now she would be just fine! Wishful thinking though I am sure!

Haha I actually posted a thread about this on the 18-34 forum :) About the correlation between spontaneous labor and a full moon and also between change in barometric/air pressure and labor.  I included links to some articles I found regarding this.

I really hope there is some truth to it because I'm 38+6 weeks today, "nearly" 5cm on Monday, and having contractions every day but not "strong." Tonight is a full moon and there's also supposed to be thunderstorms in my area today so I have both full moon and change in barometric pressure going for me!! Cross my fingers! lol Guess we will find out if there really is truth to the full moon theory :)

This older lady told me that several times. However the past two nights there have been a full moon and nothing. :D I think the weather channel's website has the historical info and I'm check to see what it was like the night I went to the hospital and when I concieved.

Man, I thought last night I was going to have a baby!... I was up ALLLLLLL NIGHT with killer contractions. I mean KILLER. I couldn't walk and they started getting pretty intense and I just started praying that they stopped and he waited till October. About 5 am they finally slowed back down. But HOLY cow, those were some strong contractions- I don't know what was going on! If that happens again tonight I doubt my body can hold him in again- his head was pushed down pretty hard with the contractions and the pressure down low was intense.

If this full moon makes me have a baby, I will be so mad!

Today is a full moon, I'm very excited to see if anyone goes into labor today!  I'm crossing my fingers I'm one of them, but my baby seems to have changed her mind about wanting to come out.  Although all last night it felt like she was trying to get her head in just the right spot.

My best friend works in the NICU and can tell you that each and every time there is a full moon, it gets SUPER busy!!! Usually I hear her say the day before, during, and the day after are just crazy with lots and lots of babies being born!
Now I believe that it won't happen to all women b/c if your not full term or at least close to it, of course your not gonna go into labor b/c of a full moon, but it happens to women who are usually in their 34-40 weeks, as this is what she tells me anyways, mostly to the women who are 37-40 weeks along (of course;)!
But it didn't happen to me with my first at all. There was a full moon two weeks before I gave birth and well I was hopeful, but nothing happened!!!!

According to most birth books, the full moon theory is an old wives tale and holds no value, but I have heard that because of the affect of the full moon on the tide (aka waters) it does have an effect on a woman's amniotic fluid. There is technically no scientific evidence to prove the theory, but midwives swear the moon affects labor along with many labor and delivery wards.

I think personally it's bogus because a baby won't come out unless it's fully developed and ready and a full moon itself doesn't mean the baby is ready in any way shape or form.... but it doesn't mean you can't be hopeful!

Makes me want to howl thinking about a full moon for some reason... hormones or just mental issues? lol no one will ever know.

If it's a full moon for me I'd be about 2 weeks early...Or the day after my due date, (which is a number I just got on a fortune cookie yesterday??)

A lady I know has told me around the same thing....within two days before or after the full moon that you are due around. But it makes more sense like alaysha said where you would deliver at the same phase the moon was in when you conceived.

Last time I had my daughter 2 weeks early the day before the full moon. Its possible but I've also heard that you'll have the baby around the same moon cycle you conceived. So if you conceived at a quarter moon you'll deliver at a quarter moon.
