What can I take for a cold???

Do any of you know any natural remedies that are safe for pregnant women when they are sick??? Ugh, I hate being sick (not that anyone likes being sick... but still... hate it!).

I took some Airborne this morning and once yesterday morning... and I realize that's a little scary, but i have asked my doctor in the past if it was ok to take, he said it was... and I even took it an herb shop and asked the specialist there if she didn't think there was anything dangerous in it for pregnancy... even still, I don't think I'll take anymore. I have heard emergen-c is ok though...

so... any others??? Anyone have any insight???? Thanks!!!

Yes you can do cough drops, tylenol for pain, and extra vitamin c.  Sudafed also but that never really seems to help me....  I was actually told not to take things like Zicam, etc...  My primary MD okay'ed me to take nyquil actually.  I'm sure my OB would say no but he said that it is perfectly safe.  You can also use Vick vapor rub.  Sorry you are sick :(  Get better soon!

I would say just take some extra vitamin C....if you overdo it then the only thing that will happen is that you'll get the runs. Right at the beginning my throat was very sore and I asked the pharmacist what cough drop would be good and he said the best thing to do was just drink hot water with lemon and honey in it and it did actually help. Drink plenty of water too.

There are several zinc therapies out there. If you have a WholeFoods Market you can find a few different natural cold therapies. But be careful....there are certain herbs and vitamins that taken in excess can cause issues. Honestly most over the counter items ARE SAFE please check with your local pharmacist or your doctor.

These are not herbal but are authorized for use by my doctor for the common cold; Sudafed, Actifed, Tylenol Sinus, Robitussin, Vicks, Saline nose spray.  Hope you feel better soon!
