Braxton hicks?

I'm currently 30 weeks and last night I had some strange abdominal pain, kind of like menstrual cramps along with lower back pain and also some tightening like contractions. I wasn't worried at first but it kept coming consistently so I decided to time two of them and see how long and how far apart they were. They were lasting about 40 sec and coming every few minutes and that lasted about an hour maybe longer. I feel like I should have called L&D last night but I didn't and now I regret not doing that but should I call my doctors office today and ask if it's normal? I mean it went away after a while and I was able to sleep but I've heard Braxton hicks are not supposed to be painful and that they should not be coming consistently or more than four times in one hour... And all of that was going on... Also they told me I have a short cervix that has started to funnel which puts me more at risk for pre-term labor... So I'm scared that it had something to do with that...

I was getting BH contractions last night, I'm 33weeks. They weren't painful, just uncomfortable. It felt like my back was in pain, and that I needed to poo. But nothing would come out. My stomach also got really tight. But it's wasn't painful. It was just really uncomfortable.

i wouldnt worry. i get braxton hicks daily and me personally think sometimes they are painful, and ill get bad hot flashes during them. i asked my doc. and she said as long as im not leaking fluid or having consistant 1-2 min. contractions not to panic... just empty ur bladder during the episodes and relax and breath and it should pass. i even get woken in the night from them

Braxton hicks CAN be painful, but often aren't.  Im hoping you spoke to s dr or midwife about this anyway?! If so, how did you go? Best of luck
