Well good luck with it. Luckily it's treated by just a few diet modifications these days. My mom was put on a full diabetic diet while pregnant with me since she had gd. My sis wouldn't control hers (seriously all she ate was sugar even after the diagnoses) and ended up having to give herself insulin shots.

not sure if you READ my post, not want my post.. sorry, geez lol! - & that's awful.. 5 hours?! idk how she got through that either.. I flat out told them I was only trying one more time.. if my body doesn't want it, I can't make it stay down. they told me to take something for nausea about an hour before, so maybe it'll "numb" my stomach so to speak.. HA! we shall see! lol

Oh that s*cks! My sister's "three hour test" with her son lasted almost five hours and she had horrible morning sickness her entire pregnancy. Not sure how she got through it!

congrats!!! that's good news x 2 then huh?! lol - not sure if you want my post about my 3-hour on Aug. 7th or not? I puked 15 min. after drinking it lol so I have to TRY and redo it on tuesday, the 19th.. if that doesn't work, I'll just test my blood for a week or so & they'll use those #'s to determine if I have to worry about GD or not..

amazing how pregnancy changes EVERYTHING.. because I've taken the 3-hour test before when I was tested for diabetes back in high school. I was a little nauseous for an hour or so, but I never puked..

it's so crazy because I love the taste of the drink actually lol I felt fine.. didn't even feel nauseous.. I told my fiancé I felt "funny".. my heart started racing.. and I felt like I was going to pass out. I went to the back to find a nurse.. well, I went into the bathroom to put cold water on my face & my stomach just immediately said, "this is coming up.. right now!" lol so weird.. praying it stays down next time!!! Finally got my results! I passed really well with a score of 81, which my midwife says means I metabolize sugar extremely well and that it means I'll have a lower risk of every having diabetes! That's so good to hear considering it runs in both sides of my family! So relieved.

Ever since my midwife moved from a private office to a shared office, they don't tell me anything! I had to ask about my pap results too. It's irritating. But I'm thinking no news is good news.

They send the samples to the hospital next door. I'm not super concerned about it because I passed with my last pregnancy and I'm actually healthier this time, but my mom and sis both had gd for at least one pregnancy so I'm at higher risk for it.

I thought they would contact you either way? my OB's office tests the blood then & there, so it only takes a couple of minutes to find out. does your midwife send the blood work off? or how does she do it..?

I guess it all depends, but I would call just to find out.

Oh that reminds me I should probably check with my midwife. My test was almost a week ago. Do you think they would have already contracted me if I failed?

I got my results by checking online that same evening and my doc emailed the next day.  I failed and had to take the 3 hour. Same time frame on results for that one.  At the lab I went to, they have a phone number I could call for lab results... So I would call the lab to check on results.

ohhh okay, well maybe it's because I saw my doctor that same day.. I waited in the lobby for an hour, went to the waiting room.. the nurse walked in, pricked my finger, came back 5 min. later & said I failed, gave me paperwork with instructions to follow for my 3-hour test, and the doctor walked in like 10 min. later..

I'm sure every office is different, but 4 days is a long time to have not heard anything? I'd give them a call if I were you.. hopefully you passed & maybe it got pushed to the side? either way, you should've gotten a phone call! I wish you luck though, I didn't expect to fail!!! lol "/

well, I found out literally minutes after they took my blood for my 1-hour test.. I failed.. so I'll be taking my 3-hour test on Aug. 7th..

if I'm not mistaken I'll be able to find out that day.. maybe it depends on if they're able to test your blood there or not?
