Waters broken but no contractions :(

I started leaking fluid about 5pm and then lost my mucus plug. I wasn't sure if it was my waters breaking, so I called the hospital; they said to come in. My plan was to labour in the comfort of my own home with my doula but now the hospital need to keep me in as there was meconium in my waters. 6 hours since my waters broke and still no signs of contractions or anything... I'm stuck waiting in hospital with nothing to do. Hoping labour will progress soon on its own, I don't want to be induced but will have to be within 18 hours if things don't start on their own.

Update - contractions started 11am Fri. By 4pm I was fully effaced and 1cm dilated. I had been doing hypno birthing techniques, planed to labour and deliver with as little intervention as possible. Contractions became unbearable around 3cm with no breaks in between, so I used gas and air, then had to take pethidine, which made contractions easier to deal with, butI didn't dilate any further after that. I was given an epidural as I had to be put on oxytocin. Baby didn't like oxytocin: heart rate dropped so cesarean section was the only option. Jerome Ben was born at 05:09 Sat 10 October, 5 days before EDD. A healthy 8lb 11.5oz / 3.89 kg. He is calm, very alert strong  too. He looks like his dad but with my hair colour. I'm so proud to be his mother x

Hopefully your labor starts very soon! but being induced isn't too bad. The contractions will just be strong. Hopefully if you are induced, your labor isn't too long. At least your end is in sight! Keep us updated! :)

Thanks Van818 I shall give baby time try and wait patiently now that I have 5 days to go. Baby's  head is not engaged yet but my doc is not worried he says it can happen anytime. I have no idea if I'm dilating or not since he will check me only after I have hit the 40weeks or as soon as I go into labor. Nway thanks for the encouraging words.

IOh your water already broke
Have someone bring you cumin tea
It will speed up labor
Cumin is a spice all you do it boil it and drink it as warm as you can
Like I said it should speed up labor

There are many moms waiting, like me!! Ugh, it is stressful since we are in our last weeks or days. I still have a week left. Had my DR appt today, he did a cervical exam and had 2cm of dilation. He checked last week as well and was 2cm. So no progress...so I will just keep walking and having sex, for the meantime..lol

I'd say plenty more moms are waiting. Post a question to see...you'll get a mountain of responses I'm sure :) Generally people update with progress, so it feels as if everyone is giving birth except you...that's how I was feeling anyhow! Hope your baby comes soon and smoothly. The longest wait is definitely the last few weeks x

I'm not sure....doctor tried to do a vaginal exam about 3:30 this afternoon but I couldn't relax and he said he'd leave it because he would only hurt me and it didn't need to be done as I'm 39 weeks today. I think the fact that he partly examined me helped to move things along...waters broke less than 2 hours after. 2 cm is a good start, hopefully things progress for you soon x

Were u dilated any at all before ur waters broke? I just had my cervix check today. Was 2 cm but now in a lot of pain so im curious.
