Did mine today in ireland there very strict not food drink or smoking from 8.30 the night before. My appointment was 9.30am didnt get out untill 12.45 was ok tho. Drink was disgusting but my child doesnt allow me to have anything sweet.
The no food thibg was kinda easy but been thirsty and not allowed water was just awful! From 9.30 last night untill 12 45 all i could think about was getting a drink of water.
Girls u can do it! Its not to bad.
Results tomro hoping to god iv passed it
Where mine was done you have to fast for twelve hours before the test, but it's just done at a lab so I made sure i didn't eat anything after dinnertime and went in when they opened at 8 in the morning.
I have a letter saying not to eat. Ita different everywhere x
You are definitely allowed to eat before your test ladies. They just told me to eat breakfast and a light lunch, just be done eating 2 hours before you go in for the test. I eat a ton of sweets and still passed the one hour test.
Had mine done made a right idiot of myself throwing up etc (needle phobia) the drink wasnt as bad as i thought itd be. The 2 hour wait was so boring though lol. I ended up not eating from 9pm to hlf 11 next day and i felt so ill but managed to get through it. Word of advice dont eat fast afterwards i felt ill doing that! Good luck if i can do it anyone can lol x
Oh god i hope im wrong or its diffrent where u guys are.
A friend of mine told me about it and i pretty much started panicking then coz i puke if i dont eat.
Oh the joys of it all!! Im into the final 2hrs of been aloud food and drink from then im not aloud anything.
Good luck ladys!! Hope u all pass!!
Oh no they send u home if your sick? Ive got no chance then as i cant have a blood test without being sick. Last blood test i was bein sick while needle was in my arm :( x
Im glad im not alone! Ireland is the same as the uk. I start fasting from 9.30 tonight and i already feel sick from the idea of everything.
Im absoultly terrifide about this. When i dont eat i end up getting sick if u get sick they send u home and ull have to do it all again. Needles freak me out to! And the nurse for the 1hr test butchered me i still have brusies on both arms.
I have to fast from 9pm tonight (now) until 9 am tmro morning. Have the 2 hour one which is aparently standard in uk. I dont have any symptoms that i no of and diabetes doesnt run in family i just want it over and done with feel sick just thinking about it :( x
I just had mine and it wasn't bad at all! I drank half a water bottle of this drink that was very normal in texture to juice and tasted like sweeter fruit juice. After an hour they did a quick blood draw and that was that. All I had before was a piece of buttered toast to ensure I wasn't eating sugar. If needles make you nervous ask for a butterfly needle, they have wings and a much smaller needle. Just takes a little longer to fill the vial cause it's smaller.
Just had mine and failed the 1 hour test so I have to go back for the 3 hour. I'm also very nervous because I hate needles and the 2nd test has them drawing blood 4 times. I'm pretty anxious about the whole thing.
