High Blood Pressure

I'm a ftm and 35 weeks along. I have been diagnosed with gestational diabetes which I have been able to control with my diet alone, thankfully.

Yesterday I had an appointment and my blood pressure was high (143/80) at the beginning of the appointment. My doctor took my blood pressure again at the end of the appointment because I've never had a high blood pressure reading before and it was 130/93, so still high. Today I'm doing a 24 hour urine test to make sure my kidneys and liver are functioning properly.

Has anyone else had this situation? I'm worried about having preeclampsia along with gestational diabetes. I just want the rest of the pregnancy to go smoothly and our little girl to come out healthy and strong.

Thats great! Unfortunately I found out Friday that I do, so I was put on full bed rest until delivery. It's getting close to the time when we can hold our little ones though. Hope everything goes smoothly for you!

Thanks everyone! My tests all came back fine and I don't have preeclampsia. I have a doctor's appointment today so hopefully my blood pressure is normal again.

Lay off the sodium these last few days, drink at least 90oz of water and elevate your feet for at least 20 minutes once every hour. Try those things and see if it helps you. I bought my own blood pressure machine at local drug store, inexpensive, and I check my BP twice a day and monitor it myself.

Hope my advice helps, it's worked for me and I have a history of preeclampsia.

My blood pressure last appt was 156/106. I also had to do the 24hr urine test which the protein level didn't come back high enough for preeclampsia. So my Dr did blood work to do a different kidney and liver function test. Which I will know the results tomorrow. But in the mean time she diagnosed me with gestational hypertension and put me on blood pressure meds.

I have had high blood pressure my whole pregnancy, often as high as 170s/100. I was put on meds and told modified bed rest last week at 35w5d. Ihave not had to do urone collection as when it spikes they make me come back the following 2days for checks and urine samples. If it os still high this week at my 36w5d  appt while on the meds i think they will probably put me on full bed rest until i deliver.
