Timing contractions?

How do you time contractions?

Thank you ladies, turns out I was having them 5 min apart and I was already at 7cm dilated when I arrived at the hospital, my son was born already in good health thank god

There are some really good apps that will help time them for you. It's not always easy to focus on the clock during some of the tougher contractions, the timer helps me.

You count they from the start of one contraction to the start of the next contraction.  But also count how long they last. The real ones last around 90 sec and 3 to 5 min apart

From the start of one to the start of the next. There's several free apps too

Start writing them down at what time they started and count how many seconds they last for. It'll help with keeping track of whether they are getting longer and closer or spacing out!
