Some Dr.s say 37 weeks is full term and some say 38. I don't know any Dr that will induce u at that time you usually have to wait until you've passed your due date. So maybe you can try natural ways to induce your labor.
What would be any good natural ways to induce your own labor? I been wanting to do that after my shower which is two weeks away..
My doctor considers "term" to be 38 weeks and "full term" to be 40 weeks, of course counting from the first day of the last period rather than from the assumed date of conception.
37 weeks - 38 weeks 6 days is early term.
39 weeks - 40 weeks 6 days is full term.
41 weeks and on is post-term.
Induction is only used when medically necessary. Being induced can be harmful to you and your baby. So just because you want to be induced, doesn't mean you can be induced. Unless the doctor says it's okay but never use Cytotec. It's the same drug used for abortions. Ask for alternative induction meds and methods.
I'm being induced at 37+1 for severe PUPPPS. Otherwise my doc wouldn't induce until 39 weeks.
In the US full term is 37 but it's hospital policy to not induce until 39 unless there is a medical reasons. Most doc will agree to enduce after 39 but few will not until 40 to 41
Hmmm, thats interesting. I was induced with cytotec at 36 weeks with my 2nd. I nvr knew they used that for abortions :(
My doctor says they won't induce me unless I go 2 full weeks past my due date. I hope I don't get that far, I'm 37 weeks and I can't imagine how uncomfortable I'll be at 42 weeks pregnant!
My dr won't induce me until the day after my due date. I already have a scheduled induction for the day after, which is October 6. But if you go into labor at 37 weeks, your considered term by most drs. 38 weeks or after is preferred.
My doctor is in the US and he did not consider full term to be 37 weeks, that is just when he would have let me go if I went into labor without trying to stop labor. So, when you say "in the US full term is 37 weeks," not everywhere in the US, or at least, not every doctor.
I got a paper from the hospital childbirth class (in the US) that said 37-38 is "early term", 39-40 is "full term" and 41-42 is "late term". They won't induce until late term unless medically necessary. In early term they will allow labor to progress if it starts, but they prefer you go full term.
