Scared of Labor

I have 3 girls...All natural no pain meds (by force) I have an issue with my platelets everytime I get pregnant..  So I'm not able to get an epidural..  U would think after the last 3 I'd be OK, but I'm not lol my due date is October 29th very far away..  but I can't help to think about it.. Am I the only one that has kids already but is terrified about the labor?

I've never had an epidural, with my first the anethisist was busy with people who were dying (and in the midwives terms, were more important than me) yes I know they are I wouldn't want anyone in pain, but at the time I nearly swung for her, 50 hours of labour a uti, I hadnt slept in 3 days. And my husband (at the time) kept crying and was making me angry that he wasn't manning up. So I was in more pain because I was stressed.

Second baby I had a planned home birth, And because I was relaxed, I again had gas and air and after a 21 hour labour baby was born.

3rd baby rushed to hospital because I started bleeding after going 13 days over baby was fine, gas and air a 40 minutes active birth and baby was here. (Although a 16 hour labour).

So 4th time lucky I'm hoping not to have contractions for hours upon hours and just have a quick and easy birth. Haha yeah right.

But it's kinda excited/scared. I'm scared of the pain, but excited that after I get to meet the perfect human I've grown. :) I suggest if you're actually scared and start to panic to speak to your midwife/doctor about it, it does become a real fear, also the hypnobithing podcasts can be good, although I don't follow it all, I believe it helps to calm you down if you start to feel stressed x

Oh no definitely not! With my daughter I tried to get the epidural but the anesthesiologist had a lot of difficulty putting it in. It took about an hour, and he was constantly numbing different sections of my back to keep trying to put it in I don't even know how many times he removed it only to try again. Eventually he got it in and it was working, but it was higher up on my back and didn't numb as far down as it should have. After labor I had severe back pain for months, it was excruciating, I had to see a chiropractor twice a week until it finally let up. Because of that, which I guess rarely happens, I'm contemplating forgoing the epidural this time (I'm due off 26). But the pain was awful even with the epidural I don't know if I could do it drug free
