Scared and Single

I never thought I'd be just about 5 months pregnant with my first child and not have a supportive, loving partner by my side. A little over 3 weeks ago, I had to break up with my boyfriend for serious reasons I'll leave out for now. Does anybody have any advice on what I can do to protect the baby and myself while pregnant? I'm reaching out to friends for recommendations on family lawyers and once the baby is born, I will be going for full custody. Any help or advice would be so appreciated if you went through this or knew someone who went through this. Thank you beautiful mommies!

Every single woman's situation is different. I'd encourage you to not think emotionally but in facts. Full custody is not guaranteed, nor is it always permanent. The only permanent option is TPR which is rare to get in a family law case. Speak with an attorney. Know that when you apply for government assistance the majority of states will file for child support  on your behalf or deny you benefits if you refuse to name a dad or list of potential dads. The logic is that if they can get the dad to pay CS you'll need less money from them. I'd recommend getting your family law case built before having the state step in for CS. The chances of any family law case going smoothly is about 0%, so try & stay calm, don't respond in haste or hostility to anything baby daddy says. Keep communication professional- even if he is going cursing banshee on you.

Hi I'm currently 5 months too and going through the same thing. I'm homeless  college student but with the support of my parents and I signed up for WIC and food stamps. I also found out that from some of the other moms on here there are a lot of programs for single mothers. Sign up for WIC if you already haven't done it and they will be able to help you. I pray that things will get better for you and your child and don't let anyone talk negative to you. Things will get better.
