Well, that's not the way I was raised.
I was raised that you don't move in with a man and create a baby if you don't respect him. If your guy still has to "earn" your respect, you picked the wrong guy.
Respect is earned not given. It doesn't matter what a man has if he doesn't respect you then you don't respect him. That's the way I was raised anyway. We have have everything of our own. Nothing is just his or mine we work together for everything we have.
In my experience, men are extremely uncomplicated. You pick one who is a good man - has a job, acts normal, has nice friends, has a car, has a place to live outside of his parents house - and you treat him with respect and admiration, and it's all good. Men are very easy to predict.
