Hi I'm 18 years old and am pregnant with my first child. My husband and I got married right out of high school this past September and got pregnant in November. Growing up my mother wasn't in my life because she chose drugs and illegal actions over her children. Now that I'm grown and having a child of my own she is trying to come into my life but the thing is she hasn't changed I don't want my child around that. But many people are telling me to forgive her and let her come around and maybe she will change. I don't trust she will but they keep insisting on it. What should I do?

Since nothing has changed in her life and she's still choosing crime and drugs over family,  I think you should let her go.  

My SIL had a mother who was a mean drunk and the deal was,  we'll visit you until you start to drink and then we're gone.  The visits usually lasted about 2 hours.

I would give her a chance :) and if it doesn't work out she's the one missing out on your wonderful baby ! Good luck:)

It's nothing wrong with giving her one chance, but only once if she shows no change at least you can say you tried.

I wouldn't give her a chance, honestly I think she wants k be in your baby's life over her own selfish reasons its upsetting but that's just MY OPINION XO

I'd say to give it a try and see if she can change but if not you can choose for her to not be around... Only you can know what's best for you and your child...

My mom had a similar situation.  Her mother wanted nothing to do with any of her kids. she put her ( well all 4 of her kids) in foster care. Then out of the blue when my mom got married and got pregnant her mother wanted in her life. My mom did let her in and forgave her but never really trusted her.  Not sure if this really helped...
