I don't want my mother in law or anyone kiss my baby's mouth

I don't think is hygienic . My mother on law kisses my nephews mouth all the time . And is kind of annoying  plus she face him down on her lap . I won't allow her to do that with my son .. I really like and respect her but o have my limited  and restrictions.  What do you think ladies  . Do you like people in your family relatives be kissing your new born babies ? .

Nope sorry we really dislike the mouth kissing on kids. My husband and I don't even kiss our son in the mouth. Good thing My mother and mother in law don't like that stuff neither

So you will let her kiss anywhere on his face? But not the lips? I still feel like you're going to get germs or whatever you're worried about regardless

Because they are grandma's and that's what they do lol. Even if you tell them no I don't like it they will.. I have told my grandma not to give my daughter cookies all the time but she does it behind my back!

I hate when people kiss babies on the mouth (with the exception of parents)! My hubby's side of the family is the worst. Grown people will kiss the babies and even the 7 year old and 5 year old on the mouth. I told him Noone better kiss our babies mouth except for me and him and even then it's werid to me.

I don't know maybe for me it's a cultural thing but if it's family I don't find it gross.

However, it is still odd that ppl are kissing a child on the mouth that is not their own.

ETA: Actually, 90% of adults have exposure to HSV1, which causes cold sores.

@Erica- I think it is all in how someone was raised ya know. I think if you grow up where family kisses on the mouth it wouldn't be weird...and the ones that don't would think it was weird. I think your right that its totally on how you grew up. My family didn't do that at all so that probably why unlike weird lol :)

Yes beautiful ladies  .. I just can't tolerate . I think is gross . I think it's cultural  from her country  coz she still kiss my husband  her son's and brothers and dogs and cats so come on . That's nasty . I just can't allow that . And I'm going to be  pretty blunt with her to get thing right . She knows  I'm nice but I got my attitude  I'm though . I agree with you ladies.

Yeah it really is how you are raised. My family isn't very touchy Feely but my husband's family is so it always weirds me out lol. I've already made it clear to my hubby I don't want anyone kissing her mouth or around her mouth. I've asked him to explain that to his family.

Yes that's not good to kiss newborns on the mouth, I don't even let kiss my babies faces. Kiss their or leg. They are too new n haven't gotten any germs of their own yet, so why should they be exposed by another's mouth that early on. We still don't let put 4 kiss anyone on the mouth not even her parents (us)

I don't think she will end up kissing him on the mouth as a newborn, she will probably do it when he gets older though. Newborns are so tiny that her lips will be the size of his whole head lol.
the first time I got pregnant, I was so sure that I would be annoyed with certain people holding him. I was Sure that certain family members habits would bug me around my baby but once he was born, all of that changed.
I swear it's all hormones! I'm pregnant now and so many little things bother me like people chewing loudly, talking with food in their mouth and so on.. It's definitely a pregnancy thing.

But if it still bothers you after the baby comes out then just be honest and hopefully she will respect your wishes

I can't stand that either u should only kiss ur spouse lips no one else let alone someone else's kids.  On the cheek that's as close as ull get to my baby's face even my older boys i never kissed their mouths why should anyone else. The other day my niece was trying to give me a kiss n she went for my lips i felt awkward but didn't want to make her feel bad she's only 2 but the next time she tried i told her remember on the cheek she still tried my lips but iturn my cheek is not her fault her parents showed her that way i just can't do it i only share lips with my hubby

I agree with sass! Me personally I was raised with an affectionate  family.  We usually kiss  baby on the head or something.  But I wouldn't mind if they gave my baby a kiss on the lips.  Not like their making out with the kid. If that's the case, u shouldn't kiss ur baby on the mouth.  Who knows where ur mouth been or ur husband.  Wish we could keep our children in a bubble! but I'd wait till you have baby to say something. U may regret it. Ull c her kissing and stuff ur nephew and not urs. She might get scared to show the baby affection  cause that's the way she shows it and ur telling her its gross.
