By the way, one thing about drugs on the property, even if in the 'other' house is that if they are illegal drugs, the law will get involved. CPS looks out for children but they do report illegal activity to law enforcement. Whomever is on the property, once a report is made, will be scrutinized. good luck hon.
In my area, they will check al on the property/ at the same address. Even if in different places because they assume that the people will be in contact with the baby. And it probably isn't a safe environment. any way you can move?
I would definitely consult a local family law attorney and get a free consultation over the phone before and after cps visits. Just stay calm and if i were you, record the interview. Things can get messy with cps innocent or not, so please educate yourself on ur rights before you allow them into your home. Im sry u have to deal with this and wish u the best of luck.
Would I file that complaint to cps or.. who?
I totally agree with Destynee2015.
Also, if someone is calling cps on you as a form of harrassment, you can file a complaint for false accusation once you are cleared of any child neglect/abuse.
Im just going to give u my advice as someone who has dealt with CPS before. U stand ur ground and do not consent to anything unless you want to. Do not volunteer any info either. The only ppl they can drug test is the people who physically take care of the child, and thats only IF U CONSENT TO TEST. Just be really careful and know ur rights as a parent. Take care
If they aren't actually living in the same house as you though, I really don't think cps has any grounds to test them.
I have friends that's been in this situation with 2 different outcomes so I'm guessing it really depends on what cps sees when they come or whatever reports they are given. With my friends, one outcome was really simple whereas they only tested her and the other, they tested both parents and the other household member, which babysat the children while the parents were away from home.
What if they don't have children, but they will be around mine because they live on my property
What if they don't have children and they'll just be around my child because they live on my property
Anyone with children living there.
