sibling gift?

Question

Ok so even though my 3 year old child seems really excited to have a baby brother I thought it would be nice to give a gift to her from baby when he is born. Has anyone done this and if so any ideas what to get? I was thinking a big sister necklace but then again she is only 3.

Awesome idea.  What a wonderful, sensitive mommy!!  I think a big sister necklace sounds perfect.  She'll be proud to wear it.  Congrats on the impending arrival of your second baby and let the good times roll.  Really, the best gift we can ever give our kids is a sibling but they don't realize that for a while.  :>)  Best of luck to you

I am 39 weeks with my 3rd child and we bought gifts for my oldest 2 from the baby and are going to give it to them when they visit the baby for the first time. We also took them shopping to each pick out a present for the new baby that they can give her at the same time.

We did this when my son was born and will do it again with this baby. I think especially with older siblings it's nice because they have been patient and anticipating and are aware of gifts the new baby might be getting.

When my little brother was born i was 20 months old, and he got me a doll. I STILL have the doll. It's raggedy and falling apart, but I love it. When my son was born, we gave our daughter a doll from him and she loves it.

Sorry posted that without finishing by mistake..i just always got mine one of their favourite character toys and they were so over the moon and it helps and encourages the younger kids to bond with baby well

I have 3 children and im pregnant with my 4th and i have always done this with mine...the kids love to get a present from their new brother/sister and i think it really helps with

I hadn't thought about that but it's a great idea! I have two step daughters and my daughter - I'm thinking maybe a necklace or bracelet - but they're a little older (10,8,6). Hmm, a special stuffed animal or build-a-bear or something? Awesome idea :)
