I think I'm loosing weight...is that normal?

Ok ladies so I weighed myself this morning at home and I was 2 1/2 less than last week at my Drs. office. I have been eating the same amount of food as I've always eaten, expect that now when I eat I always feel like puking after the last bite. I'm always full for some reason and I find that I'm eating only b/c I have to eat.

Are any of you ladies experiencing this? I don't think that's normal that I'm actually loosing weight especially this late in the game. Do you think I should call my doc and let him know? I was averaging 4-5 lbs per month and I think I'll fall short this time on that. It could be good thing since the baby is getting "too big" but it concerns me. I also noticed I've been going # 2 more often now...sorry for the TMI....but before I was always constipated. Could going to the bathroom be causing my weight loss? I didn't think so but I figured I would ask.

Any suggestions? Is anyone else noticing weight loss of lost of appetite?

Ari

Hi Ari.

I lost 1 pound on my last visit.  I also think I am eating differently now. Smaller and healthier meals.  I'm too uncomfortable to stuff myself especially after a couple of heartburn episodes.  My doctor was not concerned at all since the baby is measuring ahead.

So, I expect to start gaining again but not nearly as quickly as I did during the early 2nd trimester.

Take care and don't worry!

I lost 2 pounds and then stayed the same for a week.  My pregnancy tracker looks like a roller coaster.  I'm not worried.

I have lost one pound since my visit.  I dont use the scale at home bcuz it is always different from the dr s office, so i just go by the dr office wt.  I get full real quick now, and sometimes i feel nauseated and dont want to eat.  And im only eating breakfast and dinner, and snacks inbetween faithfully, when i started off eatn 3 meals a day and snacks, drinking all this water also makes me to full.  Im guessing im going to have another 6lb baby, im only gaining 2lbs a month. At 20 week anatomy scan the lady was like i guess all the wt is going to the baby, as if i was suppose to be fat as hell.

Try not to worry to much, and just mention it to your dr.

I was told water retention can be the culprit for rapid weight loss. Try not to worry. :)

I think as long as baby is getting the nutrition he needs I wouldn't worry about weight gain...as I have mentioned in previous posts...everyone is different and the scale they hold us to we all can't fit into!! As long as yor baby boy is doing great, I wouldn't worry about it...trust me, soon enough, you will be wishing for weight loss... :-)

I also find myself getting full faster than before. Only eat what you can and I think everything will be okay!

Hugs,
Tijuana

I too have been feeling sick after meals all the sudden.  Mint tea has been a big help in settling my tummy after meals.  I read in a midwifery book that between 24 and 28 weeks, women should have a weight gain spurt of 5-10 lbs due to an increase in blood volume.  My midwife also told me that another symptom of this blood volume increase is headaches.  I haven't had either yet and am 25 weeks.

Another thought about the "weight loss" is that maybe you and your doctors scales are not in sync.  The most important thing is to eat plenty of nutritional foods and lots of protein, they say 2500 calories per day...and 64 oz. of water.  If you feel like you are not getting enough food in due to the nausea, try adding a protein shake to your diet.  This will at least help you to get the nutrition you and your baby need.

Good luck and I hope you feel better soon.

My last dr appointment, I lost 3 pounds. Although, I did change the way I ate ( I eat much more healthier now) my doctor didn't seemed to concerned. I have only gained 5 lbs. so far.  I lost weight at the beginning, then gained some and then lost some. This is definately different from my last pregnancies. My doctor told me as long as the baby is growing, everything should be ok. I wouldn't worry to much. You should be ok, as long as you are eating and drinking plenty of water.  Good Luck!!!
